I'm royally ****ed off, but I did think Toure had a tug at Babel. You do that & players are going to go to ground in the area, even if the initial contact may've been slightly outside. Far more marginal than our non-award last week, but that's the game.

The old story really, we look great while it's going well but when we conceded (against the run of play it must be said) our heads went down. Not entirely convinced in Gallas's inspirational qualities as a captain. I don't doubt he badly wants to win, but seems too flaky to control his emotions.

Season's over now, pretty much. Not even England in the Euros to look forward to.

Yep. Again, I was very happy for all involved, and the praise could largely be given to people who were English, but Fletcher was widely seen to have had a big role in it, so it's not an entirely English victory is it?.
Well it can't be a victory for Zimbabwe since i doubt whether Fletcher could make them become world beaters anytime soon. England's side that one the Ashes was extremely talented & one over a 6 year period that Fletcher nurtured into a top-class unit. After the dark days of the 90s.

With the national football side its a very talented bunch of players that hasn't played as a unit since the 2002 WC. If Capello gets the best out of them & we win the 2010 WC it can only be a victory for English football since we can do nothing but build on that.

Then obviously there's other grey issues such as the Pietersen one.
Come on T, so what if KP is from SA, thats a real low bow in trying to undervalue England's Ashes victory.

Yeah deleted it, ****ing terrible decision compared to the Kuyt pen in the first leg, thats poor.

Pen to Salisbury at the same time, what a great night.
Better to get one right and one wrong than two wrong. Was definitely a penalty.

What do we have here?

I'm not trying to undervalue it, I said the Pietersen issue is a grey one, there's the fact that he is South African, and the fact that he very obviously cares a hell of a lot about England.

Regarding Fletcher... you said it yourself. He nurtured the side, it didn't nurture itself.

Sufficiently hindered his attacking movement in the penalty area. That's a penalty.
As I said, it was a marginal call that could've gone either way. I'm not moaning about the decision tho, I'm far more jarred off with Toure for letting himself be done like that.

I could launch into a bitter diatribe about the lack of consistency in refereeing, but I think that Liverpool were the better team on the night for longer.

Thrilling game that was. Definitely a penalty. Kuty had a pen appeal turned down in the first half too so there you go.

Which bit? I've already justified the penalty.

And two mistakes is blatantly worse refereeing than one mistake.
Well... there was very little contact, and, while I didn't notice it watching the replays, if what I've read and heard is correct, what contact there was started outside the box.

EDIT: I understand I probably sound a little bitter here (which is ironic since I do not exactly like Arsenal), however but for refereeing decisions the result of the tie would most probably have been different.
