*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

Unarguable statement. None of us know enough about the inner workings of a footballer's mind (despite bombardments of moronic interviews) to know this.
No, you are quite right, I cannot prove my accusations, however the fact that very few of the England lot outwardly show that they care leads me to conclude that they probably don't. The England side is largely made up of players (and important players at that) from the so-called "big four" who happen to be dominating Europe at the current moment in time, yet put them together and they struggle to beat minnows.

International football consistently shoots itself in the foot. While I rate Capello highly as a manager, his appointment as England manager completely devalues the International competition. He's Italian ffs, the poit of a team representing England is that all the people who contribute to the success (or lack thereof) of that side should be English. Should England, by some miracle, win the World Cup in 2010, and Capello is the manager, you shall not find me parading it as a triumph for English football.

United > England all day long for me.

England's personnel is somewhat over-rated, that's partly why they struggle to beat rubbish. I don't see how Capello completely devalues the international competition, did you not cheer on Redgrave when he won his 5th gold medal? He was coached by a German. While I don't like having a foreign manager it's still English players that are on the pitch dictating what happens.

I didn't know that actually, however it doesn't stop me feeling pleased for Redgrave, or indeed the German who watched his pupil winning his fifth gold. It does however make it less of a victory for Britain, IMO.

So should the Ashes victory in 05 be unvalued now because Fletcher was from Zimbabwe?
Yep. Again, I was very happy for all involved, and the praise could largely be given to people who were English, but Fletcher was widely seen to have had a big role in it, so it's not an entirely English victory is it? Then obviously there's other grey issues such as the Pietersen one.

FFS, City.

It's gonna go down to that final match against Burton. I don't think I can hack it.

BTW, the superiority of a lot of the foreigners to English blokes, should be disregarded when it comes to Eboue, obviously.

Goal by Torres. Should never of been giving that much room in the penalty area.

The away-goals rule (shocking concept that it is), could make it interesting.

Agree with pretty much all of this post, pet peeve of mine though the away goals rule is, it could work to Arsenal's advantage here, which would be pleasing. Eboue has to be the worst consistent starter at Arsenal for quite some time, has been poor even by his own low standards tonight.

Yeah, as I've said before, was it a coincidence Le Arse went on a decent run when Eboue was at the African-nations? I think not.

Away-goals may have been a good idea in the sixties, but it just promotes negative play from the home side nowadays, who think a 0-0 is a good result, it ain't right.

All the scores going wrong for my lot, one of those days I guess. :(

I should be used to them by now.
