Can't understand why people are crapping all over WrestleMania here. I thought it was a brilliant show. Fantastically well booked, too, which is rare for a WWE show.

JBL def. Finlay, Belfast Brawl - had the right winner, and a couple of pretty cool spots. Finlay excelled himself. Good overall.

CM Punk wins MITB - again, the right winner, and an incredible spectacle. Some seriously amazing spots in there, too many to mention.

Batista def. Umaga - best thing about it was the "U-U-Umaga" chant that came out of nowhere. Short match, nothing special, botched ending - usual Batista fare, really. Umaga did okay, though.

Kane def. Chavo Guerrero, new ECW Champion - great to see Kane with a title. Annoying that Chavo got squashed like that, but I don't care if it means Kane gets a belt.

Shawn Michaels def. Ric Flair - wow. Really emotional match. Great ending, superb performances from both guys. Should have ended the show though, IMO.

BunnyMania - made infinitely more enjoyable by the participation of Santino, King and Snoop Dogg. Otherwise it would have been dull as Hell. Oh, and the lights going out was funny.

Randy Orton def. John Cena and Triple H - who expected this? Honestly, who didn't think Triple H was going over? Gotta give the big man props for that. Great match, really top quality, some good spots. Great booking, because now this allows us to get closure on Orton-Cena, if they want it. Which they should do, else it's just left open-ended.

Floyd Mayweather def. Big Show - so much better than anyone expected. Mayweather did a great job all round, selling his injuries and giving Big Show some decent shots at the same time. His chair shots were kinda lame, but the match was well written and well executed. Very entertaining.

Undertaker def. Edge, new World Heavyweight Champion - fantastic, just as expected. Lots of reversals and changes of momentum, and Charles Robinson's desperate run to the ring to count the pinfall was a classic moment. Brilliant match, right ending.

Overall I really enjoyed the show, very pleased. Not only that, but, after Raw last night.....

It's CRYME TYME once again! :D

Nah mate, I liked the show but have seen better Mania's. Good show but that should be the minimum expectation of WM's. Didn't see where I crapped on the whole thing.

Just want to clarify one of my criticisms.

Money in the bank was the poorest one I've seen yet but happy Punk won it. Disappointing spectacle considering the talent available to them.
Still liked the match, the guys who went out there put everything on the line and delivered some great spots but I still think it didn't tell a story in the way the other MITB's have done so far and also had a static type of tempo to it, not written as smoothly as the previous ones apart from the finish; and I found that disappointing. As a spot spectacle though it was quality.

I didn't mean you TBH, and "crapping on it" was a bit extreme. There have been better 'Manias, for sure. WM17 >>>>>>> everything, ever.

500% agree.

Other WMs may have had special matches that will always be remembered, eg Hogan v Andre etc. But WM17 remains the strongest PPV card, from top to bottom, that I've ever seen and witnessed, and IMO will never be surpassed.

Without a doubt. On no other PPV card would Angle vs Benoit deserve to be a non-title undercard match. Even Eddie vs Test was great, the best match Test ever delivered.

About WM, I thought the matches weren't placed right. After Flair v Michaels, I couldn't bring myself to care about any of the other matches. That really should've been the main event.

Saying that, that was probably the best Raw since the end of the Monday Night Wars. Not a word of complaint from me. Not one single word.

Pasta and babies! Santino is gold.

Well, actually I thought the same way as you about the match order, but apparently Flair was offered the main event slot and turned it down. He said nothing was more important than the title matches. Says it all, really.

And yeah, Raw was awesome. From Cryme Tyme's return, to the seeming resurrection of tag team wrestling, to Orton-Hardy, to Santino's promo, to the incredibly emotional farewell to Flair...perfect. Here's to a great year to come.

Oh, and also, once the cameras went off, apparently The Undertaker came out to join the other superstars to greet Flair, but instead of giving him a hug and breaking character, he just walked into the ring and knelt at Flair's feet. That's about the biggest possible compliment.

After watching the send off Flair recieved, I bet Hogan would call Vince and try to book a similar sort of send off for himself at the next Mania.

The irony being that he wouldn't get one. Plus, who would ever believe he was retiring? Everyone knows he'll do anything for a buck, he'll just come back whenever he gets short of cash.

He actually said on the radio recently that he'd job to any midcarder at WrestleMania for 2 million dollars. Says it all, really.

Been a while since I visited this thread, mainly because I haven't watched WWE properly in like four months.

Although I managed to catch Wrestlemania 24 recently. I must say, I enjoyed the show quite a bit. It wasn't the greatest Wrestlemania but it was a good solid show from start to finish.

I love how they ended with the World Heavyweight Championship match as the main event, too many times the Smackdown World Title has been treated less than the Raw one, glad to see Edge and Undertaker really deliver in their match.

Edge is WWE's best superstar at the moment, and pretty much every thing he does is brilliant. Loved the match between Cena, Orton and Hunter as well as the Flair and Shawn Michaels match, whilst Money in the Bank was solid.

Fantastic to see WWE continue to have faith in Randy Orton, I was certainly expecting Triple H to finally go over at Wrestlemania. But having Orton win keeps open many possibilities and was the right choice.

Kudos to Hunter for not putting himself over, and he hasn't now since Wrestlemania 19 (can't believe he has lost every Wrestlemania since then barring Wrestlemania 23).

Was a good show overall and I loved the outdoor setting of the Citrus Bowl. Worth watching definitely.

Good news for Australian fans. We are now going to get TNA Impact weekly. We already get TNA PPVs on Mainevent but now TNA Impact will screen weekly every Saturday night at 10pm on Fox 8.

Regarding TNA it seems they are planning a MMA style match between Angle and Joe at Lockdown, should be interesting how they handle it.

Interesting little break of kayfabe from Batista last night. "Oh no, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Showstopper, doesn't do jobs." Amusing that a guy who can't work for **** would shoot on one of the greatest of all time like that.

Well he is right, and history more than backs him up as well although it is hugely ironic that a ridiculously talentless piece of turd like Batista who only got pushed because he got down on his knees for Trips and Flair would be shooting on him.

Hate them both, although I can recognise Shawn being able to get it done in the ring every night.

The idea that Shawn is unwilling to job, especially after his comeback, is a ridiculous one. Hes been nothing but a glorified main event jobber since his return. Sure he was in the Vince's ear during his early days, but after returning to the WWE hes done a great job in putting over young talent.

Yeah, I agree. I never used to be a Michaels fan despite the quality of his matches, based on a lot of the stuff that went on earlier in his career - but then I bought the Heartbreak and Triumph DVD, and all that changed. He's now one of my favourites, the man he is today is totally different to how he used to be pre-four-year-break.

Since Michaels' return in 2002, let's look at the guy's he's feuded with - he put over Evolution for a long time, put over Edge after Edge's heel turn, put over Orton when Orton first became the Legend Killer, he had epic, epic matches with Jericho and Angle at WrestleManias from which both guys benefitted, and hell, the guy even put over Hogan, despite no-one in the company believing it was the right thing to do. Plus, I remember HBK vs The Great Khali on Raw last year for HBK busting a gut to make it interesting (IIRC he stood on a chair and tried to DDT Khali through the announce table), but then doing the job anyway.

One thing to bear in mind when it comes to who's being put over and who's not, is that HBK is a face, and faces go over a lot more often than heels anyway. The accusation that HBK doesn't job often enough might have been true early in his career, but watch the DVD and you'll see he's a different man these days. Much the better for the business.
