BARNES OUT
Broncos are so impressive this year. They've finally got a halfback and a hooker, they're slowly becoming my favourites for the title. They should definately finish top 4 anyway, probably top 2.

I don't like them much either, but they got rid of a lot of players that I hated (Tate, Carlaw, Civ, Seymour) over recent years and pulled in some players I do like (Wallace, PJ, Ennis) so I'm not as passionate in my hate for them as I once was. Could never like them much when they've still got Tony Carroll and Justin Hodges though.

I've been saying all week that Newcastle at $3.30 is terrific value. I still didn't have anything on it because I thought Parra would win. Feel like an expert punter.

Roosters v Storm tonight should be a cracker. I can't believe that Nine didn't elect to put it on Friday night. Come to think of it Melbourne never play on Friday night...is it a revenue thing? They get better ratings televising two Sydney teams?

Titans v Sharks will be the match of the round for mine. Titans at their new home ground is sure to generate a lot of support but the Sharks have form and are building a reputation as a giantkiller.

We were super impressive last night, its good for us that our best players this season have been the guys we have purchased in the last two years (Marsh, Sims, Hannant, Wallace, Marsh). When Hodges, Lockyer, Hunt, Carroll come into full form and fitness we are going to give this comp a real shake.

Wouldn't read too much into the Broncos yet. They have beaten 2 utterly terrible (this year) teams in the Panthers and the Cowboys and would've lost against the Roosters if the ref had a good night. Will be interesting to see how they go against a fired up Storm coming off 2 losses.

What a superb win tonight though, our defence was absolutely top shelf. Mason was spectacular and our Man of the Match IMO. We have had a tough draw for the first 4 rounds (4 2007 Top 8 teams in a row) and to come out of it with 3 wins would be so great so next week vs the Dogs is huge.

Brown had a lap top in the box tonight. Reckon he was on seek.com?

Seriously, they stink saints. Canberra always hard down there, but they had a 16 man bench in the 2nd half and Saints couldn't score a point with Gasnier, Cooper, Ryles, Soward and Morris in their side? Give me a break.

Happy coz I tipped Canberra, but it's not Brown's fault that his team can't hold the ball.

Just got home from the game, dragons were pretty shocking. After the way the first half went Raiders were always going to be hard to stop in the second. If Brown isn't sacked this week then Doust is kidding himself.

Wish I could've watched us tonight, so happy atm.

re: Broncos. It's not about who they've played, it's about how they've played. Without Lockyer and Hunt, and against a quality side, poor defense or not, they were immense. The Broncos worry me more than any other side, as a Roosters fan.

Tim, you're comment "Broncos would have lost to Roosters if they had a decent ref" is a pretty stupid argument, surely we have all seen enough NRL games to see there are shocking decisions against both sides in every game. What made a difference that night and in a lot of other games is how teams react to these decisions and overcome any poor decisions that come their way. I'm pretty much over people complaining about refs, we know they are rubbish can we just get on with the game.

I know that. I know that one time this season we'll win a game off the back of refs, but I was just simply pointing out that the Broncos beating the Roosters wouldn't have happened if the ref got it right, and that has to be taken into account when judging how they're doing at the moment.

Broncos are going great guns so far this season.

Love going to Lang Park this season, gotta head to Gold Coast soon, always pumped that I have Origin tickets!

I dont think you can say with any certainty Broncos wouldn't have won, its less likely they would have, but its hardly the foregone conclusion that you are making it out to be. Its something we will never know anyway, fact remains we are unbeaten on top of the table.

Any Bronco fans want to have an avatar bet for next weeks Storm - Broncos clash? Anyway on foxsports they are saying that Robbie Farah might play halfback for NSW in State of Origin, so I guess they will still pick Danny Buderus even though he is going to England next year. Has Farah played much at half back?

He has covered there from time to time I think, but nothing even medium term iirc.

Played a fair bit there when Benji was out a couple seasons back. But he didn't like it and wasn't that successful. If Wallace keeps up his form, he is worth a shot IMO.

Carney 6 Wallace 7 Anasta 13 imo

Though they'll go with Anasta at 6 (and his form certainly warrants it) so 7 is up for grabs. Would be pretty happy with Wallace ttytt.

Would go something along the lines of on current form.

1. K Gildey 6. B Anasta 7. P Wallace 9. D Buderus 13. G Bird 14. R Farah

Enough play maker options in that lot, to be competive atleast. Wouldn't really want to go with more then one inexperienced half unless they are both in great form.

And yes would pick Gildey ATM ahead of Stewart. Mainly to get Farah a bench spot atleast and take pressure of whoever is in the halves.
