Hmm. I'd say we should declare with 250-275 in front, in the last session tomorrow (maybe with 20 overs to go). Declaring only 150 in front is a bit too risky - you really don't want to bat on the 5th day for too long if you can avoid it.
On this track you probably wouldn't mind.

Although, it is a different game for the South Africans now for when the Indian spinners are on you can count on multiple men being around the bat and its just a question on whether they can stand the pressure and bat out four or more sessions.

Not sure if you have your story right there. From all accounts that I have read/heard/seen of the matter, Sourav did want to open but Dravid decided to open as it was in the best interests of the team and that it wasn't a "big deal"........
Nah, there both Greg and Dravid wanted Ganguly to open but he backed off .... not a big deal for Dravid, but certainly for Ganguly

so some records/milestones could be broken after this test match

- Sehwag has broken fastest triple
- Dravid 16 runs from 10 000 test runs
(perhaps biggest of all)
- Sehwag over taking Lara?

Whatever it takes!!!
And they wouldn't have been tired if the Windies declared on 600? Lara went overboard searching for a personal milestone. It was selfish and there are very few people who disagree with this assesment of the innings.

If Sehwag could break the record it would be worth so much more than Lara's record.
I am not saying if Sehwag goes on to break Lara's record, this won't be the better innings. It obviously would be a better knock but don't assume that everyone thinks Lara's innings was selfish. Most people didn't. Check out these forums itself to understand that.

Lara had no support and his bowling attack is weaker than any other test playing nation bar Zim and Bang. There was no way they were ever going to bowl out England twice unless they got help from England and trying to ground them and their morale down through batting on and on and by getting a world record was a decent strategy to try out.

You might be surprised how much it'll change on the 5th day. The spinners will really come into play, I think.
The pressure and weight of runs may cause the spinners to come into the game but it’s the end of day three and no one other than when Harbhajan bowled at the tail-enders has got any turn and there is no evidence yet of any uneven bounce. The wicket has got to dramatically decline in the next 24 hours for it to become tough to bat on.

It will IMO.

Declare at tea tomorrow, hopefully with a lead of at least 200. Considering we've got Sehwag and Dravid followed by Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman and Dhoni, very doable. Draw 85%, India 15%. The spinners will play a big role but I'm not sure if this pitch will deteriorate enough.

Reckon Sehwag should pull a Mark Taylor and declare his innings first thing tomorrow morning. The honour of seeing his name forever associated with that of the legend with the current highest test score for India should be worth it.

Brilliant stuff by Sehwag .... I had a feeling he was going to do something like this .... thats an awesome inning by the most dangerous batsman in the world

As I had said earlier, Sehwag is the key player for India as he not only gets big ones but also gets them quickly, which puts a lot of pressure on the bowlers and takes pressure off the other batsmen

He is probably the number 1 match winner in the Indian side, esp when you consider the intangibles, his willingness to open and do the difficult thing without any fuss, get runs against quality attacks on any surface .... he is creating a league of his own

Go Sehwag Go
