I can, i just look at John Terry.

Rio's matured alot, both on an off the pitch, in the last couple of years. People overlook the fact that on the pitch he's a pretty impressive leader, controls the back line very well, not afraid to give bollockings to the big names (or take them when he's gone to sleep). Doesnt throw his toys out of the pram when things arnt going his way (you listening Terry?), doesnt go whinging to the press. Think he's a good a selection as any IMO.
I'd take Terry over Ferdinand every time, TBH. Terry's proven on more than one occasion that he'd run through a brick wall for his team, whereas Rio doesn't give the impression of being willing to run through a bead curtain. Plus, claiming Rio doesn't throw his toys out of the pram is a little wide of the mark. His protestations of innocence after missing a drug test and subsequent bleating to the press about the harshness of his ban were just pathetic.

Oh, and did you not see Rio's World Cup Wind-Ups? A man responsible for a show that bad should never be put in charge of anything.

Norwood's on Fire
Haha I enjoyed that actually except for the fact that it was Ferdinand presenting it and he kept saying "murked!" throughout

Hence why i said last couple of years. That and the contract negotiation saga really didnt ender him to utd fans, but since then cant have any complaints with his behaviour.

Rushden's burgers have big wraps. Looking forward to sampling one on my next visit in April. Not looking forward to the football part of that trip - City have visited Nene Park four times, lost all four, conceded nine and scored just one...
Wrexham's stuff goes alright, should be in the Conference next season as well.

In your unbiased opinion (:p) is the lack of English players what hurts Liverpool & Arsenal most in their chase for the league, and why United has the wood over them? It's amusing (and frustrating :() for me watching Liverpool crash & burn despite the fact that they (imo) have a very very good squad, yet cannot win crucial EPL matches.... I can only assume that a lack of local players plays a major part in it?
No, their problems are IMO seperate.

Liverpool's problem is their manager, and Arsenal have several weaknesses within their squad - the lack of wings, and the lack of any aerial prowess both up front and at the back.

I don't really think Liverpool, man for man, are as good as everyone thinks anyway, their record agaist the big four, when theoretically they're playing what Rafa thinks is his strongest side, is simply woeful. Only reason they're good in Europe is that their style plays to the weaknesses of the continental sides. If they were playing United or Chelsea in the CL quarters, I'd fully expect them to get done, however unfortunately Arsenal have run into a rut, and I can't call it.

Agree with this.

Nothing worse than usual from Fergie, TBH. Complains that his team are being discriminated against, even when they're on course to win the title. Yes, Fergie, there's clearly a global conspiracy to make sure that your team.....only win the title by the minimum number of points?!? Why complain if you're on top anyway? Idiot. 8-)
Hahahahaha, he's no worse than any other manager, they're all as bad as each other. Though judging by this post, he's quite good at annoying people, which is probably his intention.

FWIW I thought his comments after the Portsmouth game were out of order, and I think Ferguson probably thought they were himself, that's not going to stop him saying it.

Disagreed, vehemently.

Never used to be his biggest fan, but the general criticisms you always hear trotted out against him were all applicable a while ago, they're generally a thing of the past now. Been the best defender in the Premiership this year by a mile IMO.

Wasn't Ferdinand the one behind the Man Utd christams party fiasco? If so hardly a sign of maturity.

My memory on this is sketchy, IIRC yes, and he got fined, however so did such model pros as Neville and Giggs, and you can hardly accuse them of being immature.

EDIT: A bit of Googling turns up an article by the Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=503605&in_page_id=1770

It says Neville organized the party. Quote from further down: "despite the fact that Rio Ferdinand was the one who arranged the girls being there, he was relatively well-behaved".

Honestly think that Rio would be fine as a captain, going by my knowledge of him. I think he might be a bit too jokey at times, and it's possible there are better candidates. I personally am not convinced that any of the players stand above the rest, though - Gerrard, Terry, Rio, whoever. None of them are better than the others as far as I'm concerned. All have strengths and weaknesses. Hell, I'd throw in a bunch of other names - Rooney, James, Beckham of course, apparently Owen can captain now as well. But none of them will ever be the perfect captain by any means.

Knew the party would get dragged up. I'm sure Rio said 'Get some girls in', however, having seen how they recruit said girls, I doubt it was Rio standing around Manchesters sluttiest clubs personally chaperoning the girls to the party, and i doubt he went round telling them to behave like the dregs of society. And having seen how utterly wrecked the players get at these parties, he cant be blamed for the way anyone acts.
