Hampshire give Dimitri permission to play...

"We reached agreement at 2am this morning," Rod Bransgrove, the county's chairman, told Cricinfo. "The deal is that he will have limited exposure to the IPl this season and will be a Hampshire player for the next two seasons. It takes into account the realities of the situation."

"Hampshire, who will be compensated for the time he is away, will issue Mascarenhas with a No Objection Certificate, freeing him to play in India, although it is unclear when he will be expected back at the Rose Bowl. As he is not centrally contracted to the national team, the ECB will not need to give its approval."

Lotsa surprises, the biggest steal was Punter at 450K even after discounting his performance in India, he was simply a big big big steal.

Most over priced was Ishant and Symonds, I dunno how these teams going to get their value even if they get them for all games for all three years on the ground, If Symonds' was over the top, Ishant's was ridiculous. Maybe they got to show their pretty profiles on every other surrogate ad on TV. But then, who really cares about those?

Im actually amazed that they are allowed to use the name Kolkata Knight Riders.

One would think the name was intellectual property of Universal TV and wouldnt be allowed to be used in a venture such as this.

I'm surprised by that, too.

I was originally supporting Bangalore, but now they've given themselves the most pathetic name ever, the Bangalore Royal Challengers, I'm thinking twice. It's like they're saying "we're never gonna win anything, we're just the challengers". Imagine the commentary - "the Challengers are the champions!" - it just wouldn't work.

"I would be happy to go over for free and play that standard of cricket and cricketers. I will be able to learn so much from them, but I will take anything I can get."
Luke Pomersbach is super excited about IPL

bahahah

I'm not sure that their name will cause too many problems, but their odd choice of team logo might...

Do those intellectual property rights apply in India? I suppose it depends on whether there is a reciprocal agreement between the US and India. I'd guess not.
