lol at the commentators trying to put a positive spin on that final ball, it was just a rank slow long-hop. Great finish though.

Yeah good game in the end. I can't get rosey over SL's win though - they've dissapointed me far too much over the last 3 months to get any love.

Lee needs 5 more wickets to reach 300. Hope he gets it in the finals. He will easily become the quickest to reach 300 wickets in ODI history, which is a superb feat.

Nice win by SL .... Melbourne hasn't been good for the OZ in this series

OZ ill go into the final w/ a loss under its belt while Ind go into it with a win .... But that loss could serve as a wake up call for the OZ, while Ind can look at the game and say that OZ batting could be put under pressure

hoping for exciting finals .... Ind's best chance would be at Sydney, esp considering that its part-timers can be handful there

my recommendation for the X1 for the game at Sydney

- Tendulkar, Sehwag & Gambhir
- Rohit and Yuvi
- Dhoni, Uthappa & Pathan
- Kumar, Ishant & Chawla

Watched a bit of Gilly's innings before having to go to school. Was shocked to hear that they lost. Seemed to crumble after the first 2 went.

You're a brave man if you bring Chawla into the team in a final, when he hasn't played any real cricket the whole tour. Asking for trouble there.

And if you're going to play him, you'd bat him at #9.

Chawla, imo, is a better wkt taking option than Bhajji .... the conditions at Sydney could suit Chawla

Bhajji hasn't been that impressive on this tour and with Sehwag in the side, Ind has an off-spinning option .... Chawal not only adds variety to the Ind attack but also comes in as a surprise factor for the OZ as they haven't played him so far on the tour

The MCG easily produces the worst pitches in Australia. It is a shocking advertisment for drop in pitches. And no, it's not because 300+ totals aren't being made. Rather, it's the inconsistent bounce and generally tackiness of the wicket. As Gilchrist said, it was disappointing in the 3 ODIs he played there this Summer; disappointing in the Test match; and disappointing in the Pura Cup game he played against the Vics. I'm not one for supporting every pitch being an absolute highway, but it should at least be a pitch that one can rely on, in terms of the ball coming on.

But to be fair, its Melbourne and we can do whatever the **** we want :D
Any pitch that makes Nuwan Kulasekara look ODI standard must be dire IMO.

What an incredible game! Gilly's batting was fantastic, such a shame he didn't get his century though. :(

Full credit to SL with their win though... their bowling was fantastic once Gilchrist was dismissed.

India Will Lose The Finals

As much as I hate to say this India WILL LOSE.

However, I am very proud of their effort I didnt think they would stand toe to toe with the Aussies and they have definitely proven me wrong.

I think the problem lays with the fact that the team is missing Zaheer and RP SIngh and if they had another solid strong batsman for this series like a Ganguly instead of Uthappa it would have made all the difference.

Another point is that Sachin and Yuvraj have been so out of form which has affected India's totals when batting.

Their best team imo if in some some of form is

Tendulkar
Ganguly
Gambir
Yuvraj
Sehwag
Dhoni
Pathan
Harbhajan
Zaheer
RP SIngh
Ishant

This team would beat Australia in the finals no doubt about that.

You have 5 good strong bowlers, a good allrounder in Pathan, an experienced opening pair, solid attacking middle order and a fine number 3. Pathan is an excellent no 7 to have in the team,

Zaheer and Sharma to open the bowling.

RP and Pathan next followed by Bhaji with contributions either from Sachin, Ganguly, Sehwag or Yuvraj if one of the bowlers has a bad day.
