Also from that article a couple more player deals...

"The Mohali team has signed up VRV Singh and two under-22 players in Karan Goel and Uday Kaul, which mean they have 13 players and need three more players to complete the squad.

Mumbai have picked Ajinkya Rahane and Abhishek Nayar from Mumbai and Maharashtra' wicketkeeper Yogesh Takawale and Baroda's glovesman Pinal Shah.

Hyderabad have already 16 players on their rolls. VVS Laxman (C), Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Herschelle Gibbs, Shahid Afridi, Chaminda Vaas, Chamara Silva, Nuwan Zoysa, RP Singh, Rohit Sharma, N Arjun Yadav, Dwaraka Ravi Teja, Pragyan Ojha, D Kalyankrishna, P Vijay Kumar, Y Venugopala Rao, Haladhar Das (wk). Head coach: Robin Singh. Assistant coach: Kanwaljit Singh. Manager: Vijay Mohan Raj

So annoyed about that, Sky seem to be losing everything at the moment. I much prefer the selfish monopoly. Now I might have to look into a short-term Sultana Sports subscription.
to be honest, it's wouldn't really be a good investment for Sky to buy the rights. Yes there are people who want to watch it but the question is whether it will get enough extra people to install sky and/or subscribe to sky sports. I reckon that most of the people who want to watch it would already have sky sports for the cricket(and most setanta subscriptions are probably from people who have sky) and so they probably wouldn't recoup the cost of buying the rights - given the times the games are on the advertising isn't going to amount to much. It probably would have been different with England players involved mind

What’s most fascinating regarding Warne being captain and coach of Jaipur is that his ‘relationship’ with now team-mate Graeme Smith is hardly amicable.
"I won't tell you what my first impression was."
Says a beaming Shane Warne when asked about playing alongside his favourite foe, Graeme Smith, in the IPL

Everyone wrote off Mumbai, and they've snared Baroda glovesman Pinal Shah. With Sachin, Sanath, Shah and Shaun in the same team, there's a lot of firepower in the batting which cannot be discounted. While ICL's Mumbai team, a makeshift assembly mostly comprising Maharashtra/Vidharba players, was a lame excuse on the Mumbai Champs name, this Mumbai team will definitely be a force to reckon with.

That doesn't mean this is the team I'll support. I'm not revealing that. Because I'm still undecided!

Pakistan bans ICL players from county cricket.

I have supported the IPL over the ICL from the start. I even supported PCB's (or any other board's) right to ban players who played for the rebel league. However, this seems extreme and petty. Because Naved and others have signed with the rebel league gives PCB the right to block their availability for County Cricket? Ban them all you want from PCB sanctioned teams/events, but let's not go after them like a vindictive organization. Rana Naved knew he had no future in the National team so he decided to go with the rebel league. That's his right. PCB's right is to not select him for their team. However, if he's selected by a county team on his merits, then good for him. PCB should not prevent him from making money outside the sphere of their control. That's just wrong.

Terrible attitude and Im amazed Boards have the power to do that. I hate the idea of men in suits controlling players to this degree.

However, from a Yorkshire POV it may not be a bad thing if he doesnt come due to his recent injury history.

Kolkata are apparently close to sealing the signature of soon to be retiring Bangladeshi spinner, Mohammed Rafique. According to Rafique, Sourav Ganguly personally asked him about his availability.

Also present Bangladeshi captain, Mohammad Ashraful is supposedly being pursued by Delhi and has been offered a three year deal worth (only) $75,000 a year. Delhi are one of the franchises which is most likely to be voided of the majority of its international stars and Ashraful has a relatively free schedule during the IPL calendar.

I dont understand your reasoning for the above post. I mean how can you support PCB's stance to ban him selecting for Pakistan team but do not approve their blocking these players from County Cricket. Rana Naved has been playing in the county cricket as a representative of PCB aka Pakistan Cricket. So IMO PCB is only being consistent in their stand.

That said, I have been following the IPL drama pretty closely and disgusted at the attitude of dealing any kind of dissent from any one and how all the boards are bought into going after their players who want to join the ICL. That is one of the reasons I have always felt that IPL's future isn't very bright. The more they have tried to crush the ICL, the more attention it has gotten from International players and that has worsen the situation for the young and fringe International ICL recruits.

I personally have a very uneasy feeling that the situation has been becoming very volatile esp among young Indian cricketers and very soon we may witness some unfortunate incidents either a suicide by some young ICL cricketer(s) or may be some sort of personal violent reaction against the BCCI officials.

Please make no mistake, I do not support any violent action but merely speculating that such thing might occure if the BCCI and International cricket Boards continued their bullish ways.

I am not in support of boards banning players to play for their countries if they play in the ICL either tbh. I read a piece (I think it was by Tim de Lisle, not sure) where the writer aptly said that the boards and the ICC are just helping (and are being used) by the BCCI to fight off competition.

I will give an example - when the Stanford T20 came up in the West Indies, it was heavily opposed. They built their own stadiums when the WICB wouldn't allow games to be played in international stadiums. Players cannot be stopped from playing in such tournaments. This year's Stanford T20 saw all West Indies stars playing and I don't see them being banned from playing for the West Indies today.

Why is the ICC forcing boards to ban players who play in the ICL. Boards like the West Indies and New Zealand have limited players and it would deplete international cricket if more players like Bond sign up for ICL. The ICL does not restrict players from playing for their countries, it is international cricket which is being stern about it. The PCB stand is ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if it was directed by the BCCI to the PCB to do it in another attempt by the BCCI to stangle ICL.
