The Allan Border Medal

On tomorrow night, pretty pointless this year.

Interesting to note the last two winners have had pretty shocking follow up years.

Johnson would almost have to be a certainty you'd think? Clarke or perhaps Ponting the other possibilities, but neither have been all that flash in ODs, whilst Johnson has been (SA series aside).

Allan Border Medal 2008/09

Steve Waugh joins Hall of Fame

The last one year has been pretty terrible one for Australian cricket, and there aren't many performances or individuals to recognise this time around, apart from Mitch Johnson.

These are my picks for the following awards
Allan Border Medal
Mitchell Johnson

Test Player of the Year
Michael Clarke

One Day International Player of the Year
Nathan Bracken

Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year
Phillip Hughes

State Player of the Year
Phillip Hughes/ Chris Rogers/ Michael Klinger

Good to see Steve Waugh being inducted into the Hall of fame, should have been done last year itself imo.

Katich has scored almost same runs as Clarke in fewer innings and against better oppositions in difficult conditions. Also, he never had the benefit of so many dropped chances that Clarke had. Not to forget that sterling 100 against NZ in the second innings, but for which Aussies might have lost the match.

Don't think they should have the Medal this year, performances have been dire all round, they should only have it if the team meets certain win ratios etc. State and young players of the year should still go ahead of course.

Fremantle should have never have handed out a B&F on that logic.

Yeah, Mitch has been pretty good in a disappointing twelve months. Katich should be his only competition for the Test player of the year... Hughes a monty for the Bradman.
