Hayden calls Harbhajan an obnoxious weed

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Apparently Bhajji has fired back asking the media to ask any of the other cricketing teams what they think about Hayden. Not exactly the most reliable person to be getting a character reference from.

Haha, Hayden, such a dolt. Despite the fact that he's spot on, he's a tosser for saying it in public.
Couldn't agree more.

Hayden's right in my opinion, and I don't think there are too many people in the cricketing fraternity who'd disagree with him either. But FFS Haydos, saying that in public - especially with the tensions of the summer still well and truly simmering - is an absolutely breathtaking display of stupidity and tactlessness. Beggars belief.

How would you explain the Australians' very public admiration for Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman?
They come from the old scholl of cricketers who believe you listen from one year and let it go from another.
As long as you do not give it back to them you are fine with them.Just why gangul is not on that list.

Very valid that.

absolutely not, the comments you made about Symonds could very easily be construed as racist, calling someone a weed is obviously derogatory and has severe negative connotations, but calling symonds a chimp or whatever is pretty vulgar, how you can draw comparisons between the two is beyond me.
And calling someone "a obnoxious weed" can be easily construed as slander.
Btw,looking at symonds i cannot think of a better animal than a chimp as with mcgrath it was
a girrafe and with inzy it was a potato or a hippo.
I cannot see the difference there mate.If the aussies and english want everybody else to accept there definition of racism then they also need to learn to respect others and not make such statement.

Aussies jittery of losing world champ crown: Harbhajan

Sydney (PTI): Harbhajan Singh reckons that Matthew Hayden's stinging verbal attack at him stems from the frustration of realising that the Australians were "no longer the undisputed champions" and that India was the only team giving them a run for their money.

"Maybe, they realise that they no longer are the undisputed champions of the world. Maybe, they feel the crown is slipping. Otherwise, why a cricket veteran would ask a 19-year-old (Ishant Sharma) to join him in a ring?," he said in reaction to the latest provocation by Hayden.

Hayden called Harbhajan an "obnoxious little weed" and invited Ishant Sharma "into a ring" to sort out issues in an interview to 'Brisbane Radio' on Tuesday.

He also had a frontal attack on Harbhajan saying, that "his record speaks for itself in cricket... that's why he has been charged more than anyone else who's ever played in the history of cricket..."

Harbhajan, who seemed to have read the personal attack by Hayden in entirety, said he preferred to keep himself in control instead of enjoining the matter with the belligerent Aussie opener.

"I don't want it to be a slanging match," Harbhajan said adding that he didn't want to open a pandora's box for a lot that the Australians have said this summer would then come tumbling out.

"But you only need to speak to international cricketers and international teams to know in what opinion they hold Hayden," he said looking at the broadside as just "one more instance of what our hosts have been up to all this summer.

The visiting Indian team feel all along they have been "provoked" by the Australians and a written complaint with the match referee Jeff Crowe after the Sydney game earlier this week was in response to it.

Harbhajan was also surprised at the Australian opener's statement which said that Indians were complaining "because they are losing every game they are playing".

"Really, you think so? I would have thought we are the only ones who have got the Australians on the run this summer," he said.

Cricket Australia (CA) held an emergency meeting in Melbourne this morning to discuss if Hayden had breached rules as the Board has the authority to stop its contracted player from commenting on television, radio or print if it feels that it is not in good taste about an opposition players or Board.

The word from CA on its meeting though is awaited.

Besides Hayden getting embroiled with Harbhajan and Ishant, there was another specific incident of Ricky Ponting having a go at Harbhajan during the game between the two teams in Adelaide on February 17.

Apparently, Ponting kept having a go at Harbhajan in Adelaide, asking him "to show what he had got" in the middle.

Harbhajan, on his part, had then cheekily remarked: "Mate, whatever I have shown in the middle has been better than yours' in the series so far."

It appeared to have stung the Australian captain who asked Harbhajan to "f... off" after the latter was dismissed. A departing Harbhajan, on hearing so, stopped and turned round only to see Ponting disappear among celebrating Aussies.

"They do it so well," Harbhajan said grudgingly "they keep the back to you when they have something nasty to say to the opponent."
Harbhajan being the bigger man and reacting calmly.
making hayden look like the jerk he is.

Btw how can somebody explain hayden's remark about a 19 yr old ishant sharma?
Other than the fact that he has troubled him throughout the seiers.

Perhaps it is, but it is inconsistent with his original statement that "aussies start hating anyone who does well against them" which is patently untrue. That's what I was pointing out.

No it cannot, Slander and name calling are entirely different things, to suggest calling Symonds a chimp is justified is also outrageous, look at the bigger picture ffs.

Name calling about a person's proffesional character and personal character is pretty outrageous to me AND THAT TOO ON NTIONAL RADIO.
Just because you see the picture one way does not mean others agree. For me calling symonds a monkey is not different from calling hayden a ape or inzy a potato or mcgrath a girrafe.

It cleary is different I'm afraid, and for the record, Hayden has not made one single reference about Harbajan's professional character or character traits. If you cannot distinguish the difference between calling symonds a monkey and calling mcgrath a giraffe then you are incredibly narrowminded or downright obnoxious.

I know this is an unpaid debt, but can you remind me what it was for again? Then tell me how to put this abomination in my avatar.
It was for this, and you put up an avatar using this. First you need to save the pic to your computer, then click on the "Browse" button at the bottom of the screen to access it.

BTW, when you want Snowball or whatever that cat's called back you can find it here. Alternatively, you can keep me in your av forever.

Dude, whether or not he does have a case against Hayden is irrelevant. He's not going to sue. That's a banker.

Did Hayden actually ask, jokingly or not, for Ishant to join him in a boxing ring?

If he did, I hope Hayden falls down a large set of stairs and lands on his face. ****ing idiot.

Someone should hit him over his balding head with one of his own frying pan, and any other cooking **** he owns.

Swervy's from England I think - don't believe he's an Aussie supporter.
He is. An Aussie supporter, that is.

EDIT: blast that Augustus. Wait overnight, and he beats me to it just as I'm checking the thread to make sure no-one's already said it.

Read hayden's full comments.he clearly makes suggestions about harbhajan's personal character and proffesional too by calling him attention seeking and dirty.
Do not try to impose your opinion based on your rabid nationalism.
And btw, are you trying to differntiate between a weed,a monkey,a potato or a girrafe?

Frankly, this is yet another episode that demonstrates why I have completely lost interest in this series. The actual performances on the field are a distant second to the sniping and media power plays that are being conducted behind the scenes (by BOTH teams and their players), and the general level of douchebaggery surrounding this issue (again, by supporters of BOTH sides) on this forum is why I have pretty much lost interest in reading the threads here.

This is yet another example- my post was a throwaway line intended as a way of making light of the plainly ******** suggestion that there could be any sort of defamation action, and simply because I criticised a member of the Indian team (who IS an obnoxious knob, by the way- and the fact that there are others from both teams who are just as bad doesn't excuse that fact) you decided to whale in and justify what, if made, is undoubtedly a remark with racial connotations.

There isn't a player on either team that will emerge from this series with an enhanced public reputation, and very, very few that even have a chance of maintaining their public image to any but their diehard fans. Not for nothing, but the same rings true for posters on this forum, and this forum as a whole.
Could not possibly agree more with this BTW.

I know he would not.
But all i am trying to say is he should to teach that idiot hayden a lesson to keep his mouth shut next time.
Cannot wait till the aussies come to india next time.Hopefully they will be forced to live in the rooms in the grounds itself with cats sniffing their food.
