*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

Go Celtic :) 2-1 up against Barcelona at half time. I know they're at Parkhead but it never ceases to amaze just how many clubs they can do over there.

United game pretty boring. Wish they weren't on the same day as Celtic, really wanted to watch both games live.

How did adebayor miss that?!?!?!?!?!:-O
Thought something along those lines myself, but expressed it in more of the Anglo-Saxon idiom.

Fair play to Milan, classic away performance, but I don't think 0-0 at home is the worst result in European knock-out games these days.

Goal woulda been nice tho.

very exciting game between arsenal and milan tonight I thought, both sides played pretty well, not a single player on display for either side who had a bad game imo, certainly not the worst result in the world..

would have been nice to see walcott come on maybe 5-10 mins earlier, his cross from which adebayor hit the bar was a goodun and had he come on his pace could have troubled the tired milan defence a fair bit more one feels, great entertainment though I thought, best game i've watched in a while.

As others have said, 0-0 is not the worst result for le Arse, if they nick one Milan have it all to do. That said, for mine Milan are just too experienced and I think they'll probably have too much on the night - everyone said they were past it last year too before they taught United a lesson. Had this not clashed with the United game I would certainly have watched, sounded like a good game, seen Adebayor's miss, ****ing hell that was easy.

As for United, excellent result, not the greatest of away performances (why SAF persists with the 4-5-1 away on European nights I have no idea) but the result is what matters and I think we'll complete the job at OT.

Well they have the depth of squad to mount a challenge. I mean you look at their squad and aside from Chelsea no one has their reserve strength, Crespo, Samuel, Suazo, Cesar, Maniche, Jimenez the list is pretty endless in regard to their talent pool.

Just think they possibly still don't really know how to play in Europe, they seem far more reserved and resort to kicking when in doubt.

tbf none of the bolded players are established first team regulars or good enough to play regularly, whereas the chelsea players with the exeption of sinclair and hilario are. Though I would argue that Man Utd have the better team when all are fit, Chelsea clearly have more depth to the squad, particulary in defence and up front.

In all fairness I'm a big fan of Simpson, should have played far more regularly this season in Gaz's absence, other than that I fully agree.

Yeah, I'm a massive Simpson fan myself, been raving about him since I saw him in the preseason games.

I would also argue that Piqué, having spent a highly successful stint at Zaragoza in La Liga to the point that they were wanting to purchase, is a quality player. Fletcher, likewise, is slagged off far more than he deserves. He's not a first team regular by any means, but anyone who watched the matches against Lyon and Arsenal respectively will point out that Fletcher did a far, far better job than Hargreaves in a DM role - and he gave us more options in attack, too. I rate him on par with Obi "Red Card" Mikel, at the least.

Heaton, Evans, Eagles and Dong certainly don't belong in there yet, though. Heaton has never been given a competitive game yet to my knowledge, Evans hasn't played a competitive game for United either, Eagles, while good, still has to prove himself in the long run and Dong isn't even worth mentioning. Welbeck seems more likely to get a game than our Chinese shirt-seller.
