In any case, Symonds is #2 on the money list, after MS Dhoni. (Excluding the 'icon' players like Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, etc, whose price is set at 15% higher than the next highest.

Anyways, I'm not so sure 1.5 mil is too high or overpaying for the players, perhaps it's underpaying them depending on the amount of revenue the IPL, franchises and BCCI earn of their backs. You'd need to see the figures after a couple of years of the competition running but they could be under-compensated for the value they bring, despite still getting millions for a month or twos work.
