Indian Premier League

VVS is NOT listed as an icon player. Hyderabad withdrew the application for him to be considered so...
Unwritten rule that home grown players have to stay with their local states. So far the clubs are keeping their word. So I would be surprised if he doesn't get picked up by Hyderabad.

Definetly seems the franchises are as interested in marketing as they are in results.
Most of money in Indian cricket is off the field so it not surprising. I doubt the winners cheaque will be larger then the money they make from sponsorships.

Agree. Better than Akmal IMO. Feel really sorry for the little guy. Hope he gets picked up later.
Ugh Akmal and Graeme Smith on the same team makes them instantly hateable for me. They're the Manly/Collingwood of the IPL for mine.

If anyone had a clue of how marketing works, and how Indian cricket works, they'd not be at all surprised why players like Dhoni and Symonds went at such high prices.

No one wants to see Ponting's mug. He can stay in Australia and do his Valvoline and Rexona ads. Let's not forget his Swisse Multi Vitamin ads.

Looks as though Jaipur have bought very well in terms of value-for-money.

Meanwhile Chennai are almost salary-capped already

So Indian cricket cares more about marketing than cricket itself? Fair enough.

LOL! Seeing Dravid and Kallis lead Bangalore to victory in a twenty20 tournament would be hilarious.

Cares more about money than cricket itself, and marketing = money.

If you're going to have a whinge because Ponting didn't go for as much as Dhoni or Afridi (who was quite cheap in the end) its pretty weak. If you expected this to be about cricket in the first place then you're watching the wrong thing.

Still plenty of slots open for Aussie cricketers. D.Huss, White and Bracken are must haves for me. All quality and available for not much and the two Vics will be available for the duration of the tournie.
