It's just not very good. Only a shade better than the A League in that there's a load of youngsters and some old guns like Cobi Jones still going.

Wheater played well against Mansfield the other week. Huth was completely shown up time after time by Michael Boulding (such a gun) but Wheater seemed to have it covered. Huth is supposed to be an international defender.
Huth hasn't played regular football for a while though hasn't he?

You're right it's not very good. Decent I'd say. In the top 30 leagues in the world IMO. Cobi Jones retired last season.

You get coverage of the A-League in England?
I once stumbled across a highlights package on Sky, but I'm fairly sure it was last season & my give-a-toss factor was quite low & haven't been arsed to watch it since, so dunno if it exists anymore or not. Disappointing lack of ageing and/or failed British players.

Hmm. We've signed Jermain Defoe, which I'm absolutely ecstatic about, except to afford him we had to sell Benjani, only City didn't get their papers in in time. Hence, we find out next week whether or not we actually have the £7million we paid for Defoe, or whether Benjani is staying and we're broke.

Welcome to the last page of this thread.

Anyway, have a feeling the transfer will go through after a review. Not sure why, just a feeling. Probably won't though. You'll survive, I'd say.

Presume Curbs is having a dig at Aluminia there, who isn't actually in the sqaud (or even qualified yet as far as I know).
Regardless, I find it absolutely unbelievable that he isn't considered one of the top three English goal-keepers. There's more to it IMO.

Fair point. I'd have him above Carson & Kirkland, certainly.

Maybe Capello has a thing for tall keepers? All three he chose are taller than Green, James & Kirkland considerably so.

Something against West Ham football club even....

Green is hardily short though. He's 6' 3" (191cm)

I would have expected Dean Ashton to have been considered too even though he is coming back from injury and even Matty Etherington who is a true left-side midfielder.
