The great knocks

Not really, certainly not convincingly - it's pretty much accepted as fact that West Indies would have won that series but for bad Umpiring.
Bad umpiring was pretty common in those days sadly. How many times was Javed Miandad given out LBW in Pakistan? Not many I would imagine. Groundstaff were very sneaky with the matting wickets too.

Oh, yeah, certainly, but only fairly rarely has it been judged to have had a definite impact on a series, and that seems to have been considered to have been even worse than usual.

A series with 2 draws and 1 1-wicket victory it's hard to avoid the conclusion that bad Umpiring, which is near enough accpted as fact to have happened really badly that series, worse than usual.

Hayden's 380 odd against Zimbabwe.

Taylor's innings to equal Bradman's highest score.

Gillespie's 200 odd against Bangladesh.

Hanif Mohammed's 499 against Bahawalpur wasn't bad either, maybe better than 2 of the above.

Greg Blewett 102* on debut.

Brilliant, was the best innings on debut by an Aussie since Mark Waugh.

Was an outstanding fighting display that always sticks out in my mind. I was about 6 at the time but yeah it was probably the first real excellent fighting innings I saw. Actually Boon made 200 in the first innings that game, was gun too.

Talking about carrying your teams innings on your shoulders what bout Gerry Snyman in Namibia's Second Innings
Wow. That's insane! :-O Currently 194 out of a total of 241/8! Roughly 80% of the team's 2nd innings.

The ICC Intercontinental has FC status, doesn't it? I would seriously doubt if there have ever been too many other players scoring such a massive percentage of a completed innings' total in first class games. Certainly way ahead of Bannerman's test record anyway.

yeah, no matter what the opponent , that is pretty amazing.

I was trying to find a scorecard for that one of Glen Turner in the 70's when he scored about 150 out of 180 in county cricket

It's not really the opponent, but your team-mates', calibre that counts in a record of this type is it?

Will be ITSTL to see what %age Snijman ends-up with, presuming that innings is completed.

Only two wickets in it so we will know early tomorrow morning.

Nah, you know my thoughts on stats in general but this is one I actually like and respect alot. It shows how much one player is head and shoulers above his side in said innings and whilst everyone else was dropping off like flies, he stood tall.

Yeah I know, that's what I said innit?

Funny, I don't follow Namibia much, but the only time I heard much of Snijman, he was an opening (and leading) seam-bowler. :-O

WoW, that's really quite something. 81.56% of the total.

I doubt First-Class records are kept extensively enough (it does date back nearly 250 years now of course, and once you go back more than a century-and-a-bit can become very hazy indeed) to know if this has ever been done before in the First-Class game, but I doubt it's been done for quite some time, at the very least.

Off only 201 balls as well. Only one other player made double figures. What a ****ing champ.
