Reminds me of Dilhara Fernado, was as bad as Amerasinghe to start with, but selectors just kept picking him.
The difference is that Dilhara performed well when he played for Sri Lanka A atleast. Whereas Amerasinghe averaged in 40s, he did better in ODs. But was always hit and miss. People forgot how much better Dilhara has actually performed at International when fully fit, compared to majority of players Sri Lanka have tired.

biased indian

International Coach
Uthappa
Gambhir
Sharma
Raina
Tiwary
Dhoni
Karthik
Kumar
Chawla
Sreesanth
Munaf

The result doesn't mean ****. Just play everyone who hasn't got a game yet and see how the young guns go. Sharma, Raina and Tiwary can split four overs, not a big deal. By the way, would that be the best fielding side in the history of Indian cricket? Put Munaf at deep third man and yes, IMO.
Tiwary is already in australia..or is he a back up ????

Is Tendulkar playing in the 20/20 tomorrow?

Iirc he hasn't played a lot of that form of the game for India. Would be good to see him go out there and have a slap around, I reckon.

Thats kinda off. I never really followed SL school cricket but even I know that Fernando was basically guaranteed a slot in the SL team based on his school boy performances. But I agree that it is baffling how Amerasinghe hasn't been more in the mix for international duties considering his strong domestic record and Fernando's inconsistencies.

Yeah, some idiots are never dropped.

Mubarak and Tharanga are examples.

in tests both Vandort and Paranavithana >>> Tharanga. Paranavithana has a great technique.

in ODIs Udawatta is better than him. Get Sanga to open in ODIs and build innigs (he and Tharanga both have similar SRs) at least Sanga will score big.

The problem with Tharanga, actually much like Fernando, is he promises a lot. I think he has a future in SL cricket but right now he is all at sea around off-stump. The selectors need to send a strong message to players who don't perform.

I haven't seen Paranavithana myself but I look forward to seeing him sometime soon. There are a few of guys coming through at the moment who look quite promising.

I like your idea about Sangakkara opening the batting in ODI's post-Jayasuirya actually. I don't think Sangakkara is a genuine no.3 in one day cricket. He needs as much time as he can get to construct an innings. When he comes in at 3 he finds himself having to clean up the mess the openers have left and gives away wicket as a result. Personally I really like Silva for first drop, he is so positive and an extremely efficient scorer. He just needs to temper his aggression a little. But generally I feel like he comes in too low in the order.

Unfortunately, that is the thing which aint happenning

He's a very compact player. Played Vaas very well under conditions where the ball boomaranged aroung in last provincial matches.

Yup, like the following line up for the ODIs

Sanath Jayasuriya
Kumar Sangakkara
Chamara Silva
Mahela Jayawardane
TM Dilshan
Chamara Kapugedara
Dilruwan Perera
Farveez Maharoof
Chaminda Vaas
Lasith Malinga
Muttiah Muralitharan

Silva's and Jayawardane's places can be interchanged. If Hogg, Chawla or Harbhajan going great guns, 'll send Silva, because he takes on spinners.

Raghav

Would like to see Jayawardena at No.3 rather than Silva at No.3 . Silva should be batting at No.4

The thing that Sri Lanka is missing the most compared to other teams is late-over hitting. Who is the power striker? Aussie have Symonds, India have Yuvrag and Dhoni. Who will step up for Sri Lanka?

Unfortunately we don't really have one as such. Maharoof is probably the closest thing we have. He is a powerful ball striker but he has been inconsistent in this capacity. Kapugedera can also potentially fill that role, but he has had limited opportunities to date.

You have a point and I wouldn't mind either way. But I prefer to Silva to Jayawardena at 3 simply because Jayawardena has been very comfortable and productive at 4.

Nice line up, but I still like Dilshan opening up  I'm not sure about Perera. Are you picking him for his bowling? He's a half-decent batting all-arounder at the moment but he needs to develop a more expansive range of shots to come in at 7.

The reasons of picking him is very clear. We'll have to do what Australia likes least. Playing spinners. We need six bowlers and half of them should be spinners. One bowler will be always taken to the cleaners, but still there are five more to fill in. Muralii have to bowl three overs in PP3. His dislike bowling in PPs blah blah should be stopped and message have to be passed to him loud and clear. SL needs wickets from him, 4/60 will be welcomed rather than 1/35 in 10 overs.

Good - might as well use these stunt-matches to blood new players in front of big crowds in the 'national' team rather than risk important players if they've got any fitness concerns. The one benefit I can see of having this match now is that it might give the teams a chance to shake off the Test mentality in preparation of the CB series - although given both teams will get the same benefit, its not really a gain for either side anyway.
