Hayden was a big loss i agree, but macgill, you must be kidding.Indians would have been rubbing their hands if he was around.
Last time we came here,he was hit out of the team by sehwag and laxman.Even in india he was ordinary.
India had their whole pace bowling unit ripped out with zaheer, sreesanth and munaf out ,would loved to have seen how australia would have done without lee, johnson and clarke.
Who would be your strike bowler?Tait:laugh: .
you only have 1 bowler who could of made the side and thats zaheer, as for macgill he is currently the best leg spin bowler in the world

pno chance at all that he would get into the australian team, there are players not in the australian side who are ahead of him, for example i would say bracken is a better bowler
Bracken is a odi bowler at best.
Zaheer is better than johnson atm, johnson is just a angle it accross bowler while zaheer can swing it both ways.

bracken taken his game to a new level and IMO he would do very well if given a chance, if zaheer khan was as good a player as you make out than india would of had alot more success of recent times than they have had

Brilliant win by India - after being deprived of a draw at worst at Sydney -to come back strongly amid all the controversy and pull this one....Well deserved.

But they must not lose focus as the series is still there for them to tie it in Adelaide...and put the final nail into Australian coffin and send them diving from the dizzy heights of No.1 ranking.... India can do it in Adelaide and tie it 2-2 ..if they pick the right team and remain confidant....:)

Australia hurt itself at the selection table (in retrospect) with dropping Hogg for Tait, and Hayden out is a massive blow for any team. That said, this is the supposed second string Indian seam attack, so I don' think that's an excuse.

Well done India - they were the better team. Clark and Johnson did well to make it (somewhat) close at the end, but in reality they were left way too much to do by the top order. The middle order (Ponting, Hussey, Clarke and Symonds) played pretty well in the second innings - Ponting was masterfully worked over by Sharma but had looked better than he had in the previous innings this series, Huss and Symonds got rough decisions but had looked dangerous, and Clarke was the best batsman for Australia in the second dig. It was the lack of contribution from both openers in both innings, and the failures in the middle order in the first innings that really cost us. You can't give away 100+ on the first innings to a quality opponent and expect to win the match. That and Tait's surprisingly poor showing - I'll admit I called for his inclusion, and have thought that he deserved a spot ahead of Johnson, but on his showing here, he needs to go play some Pura Cup and get himself right.

Positives for Australia: Johnson played his best match yet. Ponting worked towards some kind of form. Lee continued to be brilliant.

Summary: Well done India - you thoroughly deserve this win. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you come ready to play in Adelaide because we don't take defeat lightly, we'll get Hayden and Hogg back and be waiting to open a big ol' can of whup-ass on you there.

There are only two bowlers in Australia who are better than Zaheer Khan. I'm Australian, I see a lot of domestic cricket - I even go to first class games - there's no way in hell Bracken is a better test option than Zaheer. Did you watch Zaheer bowl in England? Or even in the first test? Or are you just plugging the Australian line, beating your.. chest?

Zaheer Khan has taken his game to a new level as well, though, and they've had lots of success since his return to the team, including winning a test and competiting very well in South Africa, and winning a series in England. Zaheer was a huge part of both of those, especially the latter.

If Bracken was as good as you're suggesting, he'd be in the test team ahead of Mitchell Johnson who, with all due respect to the guy as I'm actually a fan, isn't fit to lace Zaheer Khan's bootlaces as a bowler at this stage of his career.

Great win! Great, great win!

Very well played to both sides. What a test it has been, and what a series. Hope it continues in the same vein in Adelaide (whatever the result). I was getting a little anxious with the Johnson/Clark stand and when the commentary talked about the Australia players not leaving their seats, a Kiwi lad sitting by me said that in that case he would leave his seat and go for a walk. 2 minutes later Clark falls. Tait comes in, fella comes back and sits in his seat. A little partnership develops and he goes for a walk again. And again, a couple of minutes later, Tait falls. Strangely enough, he said he had been in the exact same spot both times wickets fell. Just had to tell that story.

What a test. Now to go back and read another 40 odd pages. :D
