Amusing how nobody is criticising Kumble for giving Sehwag a ball, yet Ponting was blasted for giving Clarke & Symonds a trundle...

****, Healy is dire:

"He hits a beautiful cover drive and they're all saying 'ooooo, we've got him'."

Actually, Heals, if you'd open your ****ing eyes, you'd see the shot was more than a little aerial.
AWTA. Why hasn't he been sacked, I 'mean seriously?

I think he was blasted for keeping them on when they weren't effective. Sehwag got wicket in his the first over...and in the second.

But I don't think Ponting did too badly tbh.

Symonds finally gets one to go against him. The amount of luck he was having over the series has been ridiculous. I remember him saying to the press after that dreadful decision made against Ishant Sharma in Sydney that 'Oh yeah, these things happen in cricket and I'd like to retain the human element of the game' and 'These things have a habit of evening themselves out over time'. Well put Roy, I guess things do even themselves out over time.
So you're saying he was right!?

I agree he kept them on for too long, but there were quite a few who went off because he brought Clarke on and not Tait.

Was Lee out LBW or caught?

Looks like Symonds got one back this time...he's still a few up though.

Fortunately, we're not in the habit of getting umpires removed

Well done India, you've given us a decent touch up!
Heh, damned with faint praise eh?

4 wickets in this session pretty much kills it... was only hoping for 4 wickets to fall today and that could very well have happened... was getting quite excited when Gilly/Clarke got going but knew we were always about one batsman short

the indians as i predicted, bowled very well and our batsmen never really look comfortable
nothing wrong with the pitch at all.. in fact its a very good day 4 wicket for batsmen..

Clarke and Symonds simply allowed the Indian batsmen to settle down and play themselves in. Ponting kept going with them and that's what he was blasted for. Sehwag came in and got big breakthroughs. Spot the difference?
See above, there were people who upped him for bringing them on in the first place ahead of Tait & Lee, who had bowled a mammoth spell earlier. I said it myself at the time, that he kept them on for too long, but thats not my point. He did the right thing imo by giving them ago, just as Kumble has done with Sehwag, yet got hammered for it.

Actually, India should be strongly praised they've played really well. I thought someone had better play the part where everything else gets blamed though...otherwise it wouldn't fit in well with the series theme so far

Australia don't deserve to win (and I'm 99.9% sure they won't) as they've been completely outplayed by a much better team in this test.

Australia can win this still, it's mainly on Clarke. India need to keep the pressure up and get that wicket...Clarke is batting magnificently.

Agreed that there aren't any demons in the deck. The fact that it looks like we might get 4 middling scores from two strong batting lineups is a testament to how good the bowlers have done in this match.

Agreed. It's been a sublime exhibition of swing bowling.
