Yes.

"There's certainly been a lot of feeling from ex-players who think the baggy green has been disrespected,'' Lawson said.

"Some of these (current) players need to be spoken to. I just think a bit of counselling needs to be done with how these players perceive themselves."

"As an ex-Australian player I was pretty disappointed."
Ex players need to get over themselves as anyone who has played against Lawson and others (and copped an earful) would testify

Good news as it gives the appeal some credibility. Otherwise if he got off, there'd be heaps of claims he was only acquitted because of the BCCI throwing their weight around and little attention paid the whether he deserved to or not.
Agreed and plenty of reasons to hope that Judge Hansen will do a professional job, unlike Proctor who appears to have run something like a kangaroo court (no transcripts, wtf). And that BCCI will provide professional counsel, who will be better equipped to deal with this allegation than Chetan Chauhan.

Yeah its just funny to see how these ex-players suddenly become saints when they retire, like they have done no wrong in their careers.

Will India have the balls to name Harbhajan for the 3rd Test? I'd got for Pathan for mine, adds more depth with the bat as well as what Corey said as an into the wind bowler.
Has the date for the appeal been set?

If it hasn't, or if the date is after the start of the third test, then to not name him would be tantamount to an admission of guilt.

Agreed. It is hypocritical of them to do so.

It has gone too far though. I believe that sledging, or 'mental disintegration' as Steve Waugh (was it Steve or Mark? I forget) laughingly tried to justify it, is going to be the prime cause of a break-up in the world game that is surely just around the corner.

I honestly think that it is that serious - sides ARE going to walk out of tours if this orchestrated rabid nonsense is allowed to continue. And it is orchestrated, you know. There's nothing 'spur of the moment' about it - it is team policy, and not just Australia. England in Sri Lanka and the stupidity with the jelly-beans was another prime example of prattish behaviour.

A tad OTT for mine. The walkout threat was a culmination of a few factors, the main one, accusations of racial vilification. Anything else might be annoying, but it's not going to be the end of tours and it's not doomsday.

Nah. He didn't exactly tear through the Aussies on the most spin-friendly deck in the country so I think they'd feel okay about dropping him for the least spin-friendly deck in the country.

Would be folly to pick Sehwag on the strength of this knock. Remember Sanath Jayasuriya belted a better bowling attack to all parts of the Adelaide oval and yet come Test time, on an easier wicket to bat on than the WACA looks right now, he not only looked out of his depth but unfit. I fully expect Sehwag to do the same. Love watching him when he's going but picking him now isn't doing the right thing by him or the team because if he fails, the team are all going to be saying "See? What's he doing here?!" and if he then gets dropped again soon after, what will that do to his confidence? He might never get picked again.

I'd stick with the same order. The Indian selectors picked them, now bloody back them. On a Perth-type deck, I'd back Yuvraj to come good with at least a half ton. He's shown too much form of late to drop him after a couple of failures. He's a special player, just needs one start and I reckon he'll be away. Andy Symonds was similar, really; unorthodox player who's woefully under-performed relative to talent. The selectors backed him a little bit further than they probably could have justified (especially in ODI's before 2003) and look where he is now (numerous let-offs notwithstandaing :D).
IMO Yuvraj is a goner...
He has just looked absolutely woeful out there - the guy is just not a test class player to me.
I think after 17 tests or so you should have a pretty good idea of whether a player is cut out for this level. And is he really the best option India have for their middle order after the big four ? I don't think so....
I've never been all that convinced by Jaffer either....watching him over the last couple of years, he's struck me as a batsman that
a) cashes in only on the flattest of wickets
b) fails to make most of his starts or his chances
c) usually throws away his wicket playing a shot to which he nearly out out a short whiole before.

Yes Kaiser. Your points explaining Jaffer as incapable batsman on some pitches is really true. Yuvraj should be removed and we should let way for Sehwag.

First, Zaheer Khan is out for the series. Second, RP Singh isn't getting dropped.
Yeah...... but i have feeling that India might play Harbhajan, to just show him their support (of course not at the cost of RP), but if they do that then would be a dumb decision in my book, personally i would pick Sehwag, Karthik and P.Singh instead of Jaffer, Yuvraj and Harbhajan.

Well... yeah, what's your point? If I were to call you a **** right now, you probably wouldn't be too pleased, but if I said it to a friend he'd just laugh.
Some folks here actually thought there were sacrosanct principles at stake. Just pointing out that there arent, apparently, atleast not from Symonds point of view, as he says as much.
So we were probably wasting our breath with the Martin Luther King - type speeches on this episode.
