Is it the game where England played NZ with Boycott making 92 and Amiss making 53 to make a partnership of 112 runs, and later on Roope making a half century? It must be related to the matches they played in the early 70's.

Roope replacing Amiss in the batting order?
No.
If you rearrange the words to that sentence and add the worlds "and" and "Boycott" to come up with a different sentence you would almost have half the answer.

I'll throw in a clue. It's connected to Boycott's self imposed exile which ended in 1977 and an injury which caused him to miss the first four home Tests of 1978.

Correct.
They both hit the winning runs in their last ever Test and were both dropped to make way for Boycott's return.
Amiss was unlucky and none too pleased after scoring a double century against the West Indies in the final Test of the previous summer, a big hundred in India and a half century in the Centenary Test.
