Probably a bit of experience, I guess he likes the place if he's come back. Plus, we offer a good chance for any half decent medium-quick to improve their first class bowling record. No chance of him wanting to qualify for NZ. Wouldn't want him anyway - with Shreck, van Wyk, Myburgh, Elliott, de Grandhomme etc. we could seriously end up with an NZ team where half of the players learnt their cricket elsewhere.

Do you know when hes expected to be back
Sadly, I wasn't at the game as I was called up to play (Naenae were playing Taita on Petone Rec - just round the corner from me) so I'm only telling you what I've heard 2nd hand. I heard that the injury isn't too bad, but he batted down at #9 for Naenae in the 1st day and then was subbed out for the 2nd day.

In rather unimportant news to anyone bar myself, former Zimbabwe batsman Dion Ebrahim has led Hawera to Taranaki Club One Day Tournament victory.

Northern in trouble at 71/5 chasing Centrals 219

Canterbury going along nicely on 95/0 chasing Aucklands 312

Hay just keeps on rollin out decent scores. After two seasons of this there may be a chance of a call-up prob at the end of next season IMO.

He is doing well isnt he. Just looked at his first class average and its up to 55 now, His one day average is 65 ( 3 not outs in 7 innings). Quite impressive for a young bloke. Give him a few years and he might be worth a try for sure.

God, I'm sick of all these bandwagon-jumping Kiwi posters who demand the in-form player of the week be thrust immediately into the Black Caps. [/bahnz]

Michael Papps with a century against Auckland, and Rob Nicol took a 5'fer

Anybody else noticed that over the last couple of seasons that Vincent, How, Taylor and the Marshalls have been bowling more. Are they looking to add more strengths to their bows, or what?

Sinclair bowled a bit a season or two ago. Didn't have much success though.

Greg Hay is a total gun. He's 23 ATM in his second season and averaging 55. When he's about 24-25 and if he's still averaging 40-50 he should get his opportunity but he probably won't. Ryder and Taylor will be used and Taylor will be totally outclassed in tests and Ryder will just slog away for about 30 odd then hole out on the boundary.

How about just showing some faith in the guys you've picked? I know years of dire selections will have probably left you a shattered man, but the middle order picked against Bangladesh reflects the fact that New Zealand selectors have finally spotted the difference between tests and ODIs. Although, Fulton and Sinclair have played ODIs recently, so maybe not - expect some dire ODI performances I guess. :p

I'm more than confident that Sinclair, Fulton and Fleming will do a good job in test cricket from now pending they are all given time to settle. Hay looks like a perfect replacement for whenever Fleming or Sincas retire, which is hopefully two seasons away at the quickest.

I have no issues with the current middle order. All three are some of my favourite players. When Fleming goes though or someone underperforms I bet you Taylor will miraculously jump ahead in the pecking order ahead of Styris and when the next person retires Ryder will make an entry.

What are you talking about....I never said any such thing. I said he was doing well, and in a few years he might be worth a try, why on earth is that bandwagon jumping,?
