Can't believe I was at the TAB too late to take some of the $3.20 they had on offer for Otago to beat Auckland.

Despite a quickfire 82 from Piggy Styris, Otago are likely to get up, with Nathan Leslie McCullum grabbing 3-27.

Tuffey just slogged McCullum to hell and back so those figures are something like 3/40 now.

I see Wellington are chasing 300 odd and our specialist death bowler Mark Gillespie is playing for Welly. Obviously didn't do his job...again. When will people ignore his List A record and look at the FC one? Test bowler only methinks. (List A average:30 odd FC average:24)

McCullum - should be closer to the national side.
I think Bruce Martin SHOULD be closer but you're probably right there. How did Patel go? If he got whacked around a bit it will be interesting to see how the selectors go about picking the spin twins on a turning pitch. Patel hasn't really hit much form this season bar a couple of one day games and the 20/20s.

Interesting. I hadn't heard anything about him for so long I'd just assumed that he'd given up playing cricket due to constant injury. But if he is fit, what is he doing playing in Australia? With Bond going, we need all the young potentials playing at home!

Saw an article yeasterday about Manly batsman (left handed) Cameron Merchant who has five Sydney 1st Grade centuries this season and is currently having a trial with Northern Districts. It said if he got a contract, he can go straight into the New Zealand team because he has a Kiwi mother.

Two things, wouldn't there be there be a set amount of time he would have to be in New Zealand for (like when KP went to England) and would then need to get runs on the board. Unless it was a patronising article that if one can get runs in Sydney 1st grade, then he can get them anywhere

Yeah Merchant is playing for the Northern Districts A team at the National Provincial A Tournament. It's the level below first-class cricket really. Joey Yovich, Grant Robinson, Brad Wilson & Kane Williamson have all played first-class cricket this season, but are currently down with the A side. The ND side are doing well at present after a 163-run win over Canterbury. Not sure what Merchant's chances are at playing first-class, I guess it depends on what sort of contract he has with ND.

ND started the day at 85 without loss in their second innings and declared at 263/8, opener Brad Wilson having scored 91, Campbell Merchant 55 and Kane Williamson an unbeaten 68.

Who is Kevin Forde? Played 3 games for Wellington, listed as a fast bowler. James McMillan wasn't even listed as fast. Surely a mistake.

Strauss looked absolutely average in his innings just now. Doesn't seem to have fixed up his pull shot, either.

Haha, James Marshall attempts a reverse sweep and fails miserably and gets caught next ball. There is justice in this world.

Is Bond playing today? How is he looking?

I ask this because two games ago, a radio commentator said he looked 'fit and healthy'.

What the heck was Jamie How thinking today?
Bringing Diamanti on to bowl the last over, when Thompson had an over left.
Bringing taylor up from fine leg and costing CD a four.
CD pretty much lost that game, though some good invention from McGlashan and good to see the rivalry between Oram and Vettori.

Hopefully McGlashan hasn't done enough to secure an International recall as he is still not good enough to succeed at International level.
