Pup doesn't hate the Indian team - he just follows Australia. Big difference.

Raghav gets criticised for it as much as you if not more.

Nah. Already posted on it re: Raghav. See no reason why people like pup11 and aussie support teams other than their own country. Simply unpatriotic. If it was a case of supporting WA over Tasmania despiite having lived in Tasmania all your life is completely different. The country thing though not treason but a treasonous act.
Why would it be any different? You can be patriotic to your country without necessarily liking the team they put on the cricket pitch. One thing doesn't reflect another.

I think Australia does a good job with the coverage they get and the whole summer of cricket gets you swept up in the team (mind the pun). I can understand if people thinking that Ponting is a brat or the Australian dominance is getting boring and supporting the opposition. I personally would cheer Bangladesh over any other team in world cricket.

No problem with not liking the team and maybe supporting another team for a series but to switch allegiance just isn't on. In that situation you just become a fan of the game not of any team then.

but why? why can't our opinion be considered our point of view and respected.. we all like different stuff and the mature way is to respect each other's choices and opinions...

It's the way you go about it. Lots of posters on here don't like Australia but they don't attack them like you guys attack India.

Personally I tried to support Ireland when they played us in the WC as I have Irish ancestory but I just couldn't do it. I wanted the BCs to crush the buggers.

I've never played any cricket as a specialist bowler. I don't care what the bowler's prerogrative is, Vettori is/was hypocritcal and aggressive when there is clearly no need for that behaviour, and it makes him look like a dick in my eyes.
And it shows. As several other posters have said on this thread, it's not a good argument. Why? Because it's common as muck. If you're going to pull Vettori up on it, be consistent and dislike other bowlers (McGrath is one that springs to mind immediately).

I don't care which country a person supports.

However, when a person hates a particular country and starts bashing a particular country, it is a problem. I am trying to discuss cricket and some one who hates country x starts posting hahahahahaha India are crap hahahahahahahahhahaa indian team is this indian team is that. If it was done once in a blue moon, it wouldn't be a problem but there are some posters who repeatedly do it and from discussing cricket the course is shifted to discussing how country x's fans are fascists or not. This is highly deplorable in my opinion and such fans who constantly bash a specific country do nothing except choking constructive discussion.

I see no problem in bashing a particular cricket team, as long as it does not extend into bashing of the particular country for which that cricket team plays. The starting XI for India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, England, et al. could all be ****s for all most of us know, or they might be saints. Doesn't mean that someone isn't entitled to their opinion about them, however stupid and childish it may be.

Is is not opinion though. If some one is constantly bashing a particular country, they obviously are not doing it as an opinion but just targetting them needlessly. Hail, sun, rain or storm, if some one thinks Sri Lanka is a team of impotent ****s, it is targetting a particular country.

This is different from having an opinion on some thing and criticising a team or the particular aspect of that team.

In their opinion, Sri Lanka is a team of impotent ****s, and is aggressive in voicing it if they go on about it.

The only reason I used the words "fascist" is because some of the Indian fans here started calling me names simply because I had a negative opinion of the Indian team - opinion that has, incidentally, been vindicated looking at this series. If you don't want to get ****, don't act like a ****head.

Is it opinion though? If some one is constantly bashing a particular country, they obviously are not doing it as an opinion but just targetting them needlessly.

No one has targeted the Indian team needlessly or without evidence - other than haroon possibly. Both Raghav and I have used legitimate points. So enough of this garbage. If Tubinator's manic fanaticism is tolerated, why shouldn't the opposing views, occasionally? Ridiculous double standard.

There is a subtle difference between having an opinion and just bashing a particular country for the sake of it or because they love to see that country lose or because they hate it.

Obviously theres a fine line between stating one's opinion and trolling, but I really wouldn't like to be overly suppressive of such criticism even if it seems to be targeting a particular country. You're always going to get the types who have it in for one country or another, and thats just the nature of fans of competitive sport that they'll do that.

Personally I find that the best way to deal with such posters is to put them on the ignore list, but unfortunately oftentimes aside from their irrational aversion for their target country they have some good points to say, so its often hard for me to keep them on the ignore list for long.

If the abuse gets offensive, or targets the country instead of the team then clearly its crossing the line though.

Ooooh. Don't given me the innocent victim crap. Calling Indian fans fascists is deplorable. You are not a school girl. Just because x called you stupid (Jono as you said and I would deplore Jono for that as well) doesn't make you insulting people are calling Indian fans fascists right.

Agree..
i thought i made clear why i don't like indian team but for the record.. part of the reason i don't like the indian team is because of the members like tubinators, nautral, SS, Jeevin, and others double standard views ..

It's still their opinion though, no matter how much of a **** they're being about it.
