Elliott? He hasn't scored any runs in FC cricket for quite a few seasons now.
In the ODD tournament he has actually been the dominant player.

He has scored 499 runs at an average of 99 this year with 2 halfs and 2 centurys.

I understand he will never play for Australia again but if we are putting 2nd eleven sides together, they have to be based on form and at the moment he is the best one day opener in state cricket.

Anyway...

1. Chris Rogers
2. Michael Di Venuto
3. Simon Katich
4. Brad Hodge
5. David Hussey
6. Brad Haddin
7. Ashley Noffke
8. Brad Hogg
9. Shaun Tait
10. Ben Hilfenhaus
11. Doug Bollinger

I still don't consider Hogg part of Australia's first XI, so he's in this team. I love Watto but I certainly wouldn't pick him now in the form he's in - it'd be disastrous for him. Noffke at 7 and Hogg at 8 is fine from where I sit so I've gone that way. Still no place for Nathan Bracken, because I'd have more faith in the other guys at test level, basically. I'd consider Gillespie before Bracken as well.

I'm fully aware of that, but this thread is about test cricket, not one day cricket. Read the first post.

I have read it,

I made a passing comment on how the ODI second eleven would be much different. Hardly trying to derail the thread.

I will stick to the Test second XI

Ahh, I just re-read your post. Deepest apologies, I missed the "one day eleven" part and thought you were arguing for them to be included in the test eleven. Perfectly fine thing to say, and I actually agree.

Carry on. :p

No worries, thought you may have missed that part.

The obvious question is if this side could crack into the top 5 test nations?
Surely i would have Doug Bollinger in there somewhere he has been exceptional in the Pura cup this season.

LOL @ people not selecting Bracken in their starting line-ups, or at the very least 12th man. FC average of 26, been one of the top five bowlers in FC this season, and in the top three best ODI bowlers in the world at present.

I'd have him instead of a spinner.

MacGill is in our 1st side IMO so he can't be actually considered.

I would not have Watson opening the innings particular on recent form, in fact on recent form he would not get a game.

What has Cameron White done to deserve a game? He is a mile away from being in the test 2nd XI IMO.
