***Official*** West Indies in Zimbabwe and South Africa

Extremely happy to see the Windies come away with the victory. Commend: Chanderpaul's first innings, Bravo's bowling and Edwards' bowling in the second innings, Samuels batting display in both innings.

Well done!!

Aaaye, concur with Josh, missed pretty much all of the game, despite being on at a much more convenient time than Aus v Ind. Good to see the WIndies putting in such a strong performance.

Exactly, there was excellent performances in this test.

Chanderpauls first innings hundred. He is fast becoming one of the hardest players in the world to dislodge, has had a stellar past 3-4 months.

Samuels was breathtaking at times in the first innings, We know he is casual but if he can string some consistent performances together then he will become a very good player but i will believe it when i see it.

Bravo was terrific in the first innings

Steyn was brilliant in the WI second innings, when all looked lost he came on and really gave the Proteas a sniff.

Kallis looked excellent in the second innings and you just knew he would not fail two innings in a row. He was very very unlucky to be given out and i honestly believe the game would have been a lot closer if that decison did not happen.

Good performance by the Windies and hopefully they can continue to play good cricket in this series and beyond.

Is anyone aware if South Africa are still using a race quota in there team and if so what that quota is.

It's time Gibbs spot in the team came up for serious discussion but are they able to replace him if the player replacing him is not mixed race or of African ethnic origin.
There are no longer required quotas in any sport in South Africa.

Re: Sarwan he's only been WI captain for like a day and a session or two right? Pretty hard to judge him on that.

Now, I as much as anyone really dislike poor umpiring decisions. This one was indeed a shocker!

However, I think it is unfair to say he was very very unlucky.

A few overs earlier he really had a sloggish miss, which just might have very well carried after a nibble of the bat.

And in all honousty: When he was given out wrongfully, he missed the ball by millimeters. If he would have been given not out, we would say Edwards was very unlucky he missed the bat with two millimeters.

A man with the experience of Kallis should have handled this bouncer differently and be sure his bat was a foot away from the ball. He put himself in a great risk there.

Nevertheless: a poor poor decision.

Regardless of the position he got himself him he still should not have been given out, Never Never looked out. I classify that as very very unlucky.

As would I but McKenzie couldn’t handle the pressure batting in the middle order last time, so God knows how he would bat if he opened.

Tis a shame Andrew Hall called it a day for he wouldn’t be a bad choice as opener, especially with the Indian series coming up and the fact that the last 100 opening stand partnership South Africa had in test cricket involved Hall.

Excellent news. Has McKenzie been opening domestically?
No, it will be a first for some years. McKenzie opened on debut for South Africa in Sri Lanka and failed in all six innings but conversely Gary Kirsten struggled as well whilst runs were at a real premium after the first test for both sides.

That being the case, I can't see why the selectors would want him to open in the Tests. Makes no sense at all, unless they are going to push de Villiers up the order, which would also be a a stupid decision given he scored two half-centuries in the last Test.

I love that McKenzie is back in the side, one of my favourite International players, shame that Gibbs is so out of form though.

Same lineup for the WI IMO unless it's a raging turner. Even then I doubt Rawl Lewis would do much.

Well, Gibbs indeed dropped for McKenzie. But still no Pollock. So the Proteas will lose again :) .

Too bad Gange was lost so early. But Hammering Chris this time has a scoring rate around 100% (reached 30 from 28 balls). Let's see how long he can stya out there this time.

And Lewis for Sammy is gonna bring....., well nothing I suppose......

EDIT: I just checked Lewis' stats. A single test wicket in 126.3 overs for 388 runs. And his ODI figures aren't impressive either...

Not that Darren Sammy was really much use with the ball during the 1st Test, but Rawl Lewis? **** me, I bowl better leg-spin than this guy.

News out of the South African camp is that Neil McKenzie will indeed open the batting, really hope he does well.
