India vs Hayden since Jaques got out
I think Clarke is doing the right thing, a couple of years ago when he was struggling he would have found away to get out by now.

These days he shows great discipline and makes the opposition fight for his wicket:cool:

Huuuge call. Murali is the best bowler in the world, despite what people think of his action
I fully agree it's a huge call, and I didn't make that post on a whim, I gave it some hard thought. I like Murali, he's had a greater career and in terms of where they stand in history, Kumble doesn't come close to Murali in my mind. However, Kumble's been just on fire as Murali as of late. What Murali's done against England, Kumble's done against Pakistan.

They're very close.

I think Kumble is a better bowler to play against Australia to be honest. Murali was unlucky not to have done better in Australia, and I don't hold his performances against Australia against him like everybody else does, but I think Kumble's a better *type*. They're different spinners so it's difficult to compare.

Murali and Kumble are the two best in the world right now... and I'd give the slightest nod to Kumble. I wouldn't blink if somebody said Murali though. What I said, I said with a lot of thought though.

australia have made a solid start thanks to hayden, india need to break through and get at least 3 wickets in the post-tea session, otherwise the situation will get out-of-hand very quickly...

I had to agree with Ian Chappell in that it was madness just to give Hayden singles just because he had a hundred and get Clarke on strike. I mean I thought you still had to try and get him out, I mean how much of a boost that of been for India?

I don't see the point in just giving away free runs at Test level, give them nothing and make them earn their runs.

I became a huge fan after his last tour of Aust. on dead wickets he never gave up, and even seemed to change his bowling speed to suit the conditions, which is always the sign of a fine bowler

Agree. Poor captaincy by Kumble. He has bowled well but his captaincy and fielding has been sub-par.

i actually think Hogg will be a handful

wrist spinners = good in aussie.. if he can get the Indians driving more.. rather than on the backfoot... coz it is turning..but slow turn

well atleast he will put on some handy runs hopefully if he doesnt do anything... hope he bats after Gilly and before Lee

Congrats on 7000 posts Archie, well played. I just figured I would get my congratulations in now.

The thing that annoys me about Ian Chappell is that he can talk some sense like Anil Kumble's captaincy and the field placings to Matt Hayden, fielding in general as well as in a lot of cases batting, but then he lets himself down by going on rants about John Buchannan and Steve Waugh that makes him look like a bitter twisted old man.

Speaking of milestones, Matthew Hayden is on the verge of his 8,000th Test run. He'll be only the 5th Australian to reach 8,000.

Too many axes to grind for mine:dry:

No racism at MCG

MCG best ground in the world: both teams given a great response by the crowd.

They play hard, but fair.

AND thank goodness, no bloody racism!
