Australia could get anything here, fields all over the place, singles aplenty and Hayden and Jaques now making it look as easy as you like.

Disappointed in India here.

Sure the early luck did not go there way but from there they got frustrated with it and let show in body language and the way they bowled, Zaheer aside. The fielding was very bad, below the standard expected by first grade club cricketers in Australia for a couple of them.

No confidence they will get Australia out for anything less than 450 now.

Great start for Australia. Good opening partnership. Congrats to Jaques for a well compiled 57, Australia will be pleased with their efforts after batting early.

Either way, If I were India then I would hire the best fielding coach in the world that is not taken by another country (or aoffer more money so that they quit and come to India). Trevor Chappell was once Sri Lanka's fielding coach and IIRC he did a good job in that capacity.
Sorry, "polishing a turd" just means an impossible or thankless task where the raw materials one's working with are of such poor quality any success is going to be negligible. As in "you can't polish a turd to a shine".

The fact is that most of India's better test players are 30+, mostly with long-term injuries that need managing. They can improve, obviously, but I don't think Laxman or Ganguly are ever gonna be much cop.

I'm right in assuming that Australia have been dominant? Just tuned in at the start of this session.

What's up with India playing only 2 seamers and instead picking 2 spinners??
Anyways great start by our lads, Haydos and Jaques going really well hope they convert this start into three figures.
