***Official*** India in Australia

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Was a great start by Khan this morning I felt but almost bowled too good for anyone to get an edge. Australia have wrested control now and I'm not sure how two spinners on day 1 is going to pan out for the Indians.

Think it'd be a "polishing a turd" scenario, really.

Either way, If I were India then I would hire the best fielding coach in the world that is not taken by another country (or aoffer more money so that they quit and come to India). Trevor Chappell was once Sri Lanka's fielding coach and IIRC he did a good job in that capacity.

Perhaps he (Kumble) gambled on winning the toss and batting.

Where India have failed after a good start is to they have failed to restrict the scoring. The pressure totally lifted when the runs came. There was no plan in place to slow the scoring up once it started. This is something that will need rectifying to be competitive in this series.

100 up for Australia, they've batted well after overcoming some initially good bowling. India are likely to struggle now, with only two fast bowlers, one of whom doesn't do a great deal with the old ball.

Rhodes works for South Africa on a part time basis (only for one day cricket) for he has commitments at home, so I’m not sure he would accept such a position on a full time basis, which the Indians surely would need.

And who’s to say he will have much success for his fielding drills and demands will surely cause some of team India’s most experienced players to cry foul. Robin Singh struggled to get certain players on the field for practice when India were preparing for the Oval test match.

I never get this, why don't fielders on the boundry just stay on the rope until after the ball has been bowled and played so therefore they have the best option of moving. So if it is a potential catch at least they can go forward or sideways or stay where they are without having to run backwards to try and get a catch and when that happens it is likely to be dropped.

Shows how spineless the coaches must be if they let the players run the show. If this isn't the cricket version of Real Madrid where if a coach got on the wrong side of Ronaldo or Raul then the coach was sacked straight away then what is?

On a big ground they don't want the batsman to take two. Although I agree they should just stay on the fence
