My turn to go way off topic. Echo & the Bunnymen? Now, in 2007? Why? :-O :-O

Process of elimination, really. Had Morrissey, Costello, David McComb, Terry Hall, Johnny Cash (who was removed by the management!!! :-O) Jim Morrison & Mark Eitzel at various times; it's Mac the Mouth's turn. Plus I was listening to their "best of" (or one of them; Ballyhoo FTR) on the drive home the other day and my white flag had run its course. :)

Now you put it like that ....

Anyway, it was high time to change mine, even if I should really have dug him out before Sunday's Beebfest.

Nick Knight has got the best cricket commentating voice I have ever heard.

It drips with authority and cricketing gravitas.

They should call off this boring Test which serves no purpose now...Would be interesting to see Chamara Silva and Mubarak bowl a bit....

Only purpose is for someone to get a fifty or hundred or get some meaningless wickets...

Chamara Silva gets Cook.... I think Murali has become too predictable. SL better off bowling the part timers Mubarak and Chamara Silva...Murali seems to be struggling to get much turn from the Cricinfo commentary....

I think he needs to be taken off and part time spinners are better off having a longish bowl....

And I hope Bandara plays at Galle otherwise England will really fancy their chances with just Murali at Galle...

Interesting fact on TMS just now - prior to this test the last time England's openers put on 100 in each innings was 36 years ago.

And Bell's got himself out - silly bugger. For a talented player, he really as thick as pig**** at times. :@

This innings really has illustrated why we're second rate at the moment. Three batsmen get a start and are well set, and all 3 get themselves out.

Just checked TMS BBC - it was Boycott and Edrich who last put together 2 Century stands in a test in 1971 !!

Apparently it was Boycott & Luckhurst in the first innings and Boycott & Amiss in the second innings. Presumably Luckhurst was injured by then. That game was against Pakistan, and the previous occasion was only a few months earlier in Australia - then the openers were Boycott & John Edrich.

I wonder if Murali will bowl through even if SL took the New ball like at Kandy ...when he succeeded with the Newer ball ?

Very Adelaide like scenario here. Although England are in a worse position than they were at Adelaide...

Can Murali be as great as Warne?

It looked that way for a while - after Bell gave it away, there was a spell of 4 overs without a run being scored, and another wicket then would have really put England in Adelaide mode. As it is, KP & Collingwood came through it pretty well.

How does the weather look ? There's plenty of talk on cricinfo about rain being imminent

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Jesus Christ, Pietersen has played 32 tests already. Seems like yesterday he was just making his debut. 32 tests in 2 1/2 years. About thrice more than NZ :(
