Largely because he's a specialist quick bowler. I suppose he batted at no.9 for the U19's last year, but really coming into first class cricket as a bowler and hitting a hundred batting at no.10 is pretty silly.

No what's silly is Andre Adams getting a bucket load of wickets and opening the bowling for Auckland. What's silly is seeing the scorecards and how many bowlers are used in each innings. Inidicative of the number of NZ's bit's and pieces players.

IIRC thats his second or third hundred this season. Whats he like as a one day player? Papps has been fairly average in his return to FC cricket so maybe have Bell, Cumming and How as the options for Bangladesh?

Why? He's only 30, you can argue the same reasons for not picking Adams and Cumming. If he's scoring the runs then he's worth a look and he also has more experience now. Batsmen generally peak at 28-32.

Na if Bell deserves it more than any young guys right now, give him a shot IMO.
