***Official*** New Zealand Domestic Season 2007/08

What a surprise, Kane Williamson dismissed for 2. People really need to stop expecting the world out of players just because they're younger than 21.
We don't expect the world out of him. We've heard he's a decent prospect and we hope he does well in the season. Now go and fill your glass up. its half empty.

Ummmmm...then what was all that about how you couldn't wait for all the upcoming 100 run partnerships between him and Strauss?

Such a precious wee thing aren't you.

But let's celebrate that positives. Southee just got a 5 for.

That is called being hopeful and lets face it, he has the ability to succeed at FC level and maybe he might score some big scores this season. Jeez, aren't we allowed to smile around here?

And, to be honest, I couldn't care less how he does in this first-class game. I don't think anyone here is expecting him to be selected for the Black Caps sometime this season - we're just excited about a prospect for the future.

But how dare we have positive thoughts about the future of New Zealand cricket. How dare we indeed.

Considering the current state of the national side? Hmmmm...

As for Williamson, I'm yet to be convinced. It seems every young batsman in this country is rated as "the next crowe". I heard the exact same thing about Vincent 10 years ago, McCullum 5 years ago, and Ryder a couple of years back. And he certainly didn't do much spectacular in the U19 series against India last year, averaging 24 in the tests. And above all else, he's still a school kid, and probably simply isn't ready for first class level yet. All the same, a lot of people do seem to rate him, so good luck to him.

Good to see Southee amongst the wickets. Fine looking prospect, and its a welcome relief that one of our young bowlers is producing the goods, given the dreadful performances of Hamish Bennett over the last couple of seasons.

Oh it would be just so deliciously ridiculous if Gareth Morgan scored a century on debut.

Bennett has just picked up a couple of wickets.

Who is Morgan (debut for Auckland today)? Currently 83*

Largely because he's a specialist quick bowler. I suppose he batted at no.9 for the U19's last year, but really coming into first class cricket as a bowler and hitting a hundred batting at no.10 is pretty silly.

Actually it's nice to have running commentary rather than just score updates.
CricInfo doesn't really do running commentary for any domestic cricket, especially not for first class cricket, anymore so you don't really lose anything.
