Because he's not that good, dear Victorian.Dave Hussey- why oh why isn't he in contention for selection?

Frankly i was not a big David Hussey fan in the past but now i rate him, in the last 2 to 3 seasons he has been simply awesome in every ****ing from of the game both in Australian domestic cricket and county cricket and even Hussey's biggest critic would agree with that but ffs him not even being in contention for selection after doing so ****ing well is something that really pisses me off!Because he's not that good, dear Victorian.
He'd be in every other countries team in the world. Please leave your smartass responses out of it.Because he's not that good, dear Victorian.
Debateable. He wouldn't make a full strength England, South Africa or India XI. And just becaues he would make a few other countries teams doesn't mean he should be selected for Australia. He's just not good enough to break through and push any of the established players out of the side. He'd be in every other countries team in the world. Please leave your smartass responses out of it.
if we're talking test cricket then yes definately... he would make England or Saffers.. India maybe..Debateable. He wouldn't make a full strength England, South Africa or India XI. One knock doesn't make a player.if we're talking test cricket then yes definately... he would make England or Saffers.. India maybe..
i mean, 9000+ runs at 56 in FC cricket not sure his OD stats but u just had to watch his knock against Lee Bracken Clark
Thats the point. Also, his FC average is boosted significantly by scoring easy runs in County Cricket.
Nah, reckon he would.Debateable. He wouldn't make a full strength England, South Africa or India XI.
Well then don't the English players too score easy runs in County cricket, Zac just check his record in the last two or three Pura cup seasons before you make such dire statements. One knock doesn't make a player.
At this stage in time I couldn't see him displacing any of Vaughan/Pietersen/Collingwood/Bell in the English middle order, nor Dravid/Tendulkar/Ganguly/Laxman. It could be argued that he would make the South African side, but not a full strength middle order.

Maybe if he had started as a resident in any of those countries. At the present point in time he would have to displace somebody from the middle order of those respective countries, which I couldn't see him doing.Nah, reckon he would.
Please do not call me Zac, I signed up to the forum with this user name for a reason, and I'd appreciate if you called me Perm.Well then don't the English players too score easy runs in County cricket, Zac just check his record in the last two or three Pura cup seasons before you make such dire statements.
Could be the first time a player has been sent home from a tour for simply being so dire
i just used that one example because its one that comes to mind and was recent... im sure he's made many more defining knocksOne knock doesn't make a player.

Does that mean that career 12th man Michael Mason might be closer to getting a run? Probably not, but I think he deserves a spot ahead of Chris Martin. If not I think he should be sent back to CD who desperately need someone of that experience back in the team. Some good news for NZ fans:
Pace bowler O'Brien to return to NZ
Saturday December 8, 3:57 PM
AAP
New Zealand seam bowler Iain O'Brien will return home from his side's short tour of Australia, New Zealand Cricket said in a statement.
O'Brien will be available for his Wellington provincial side for their match against Central Districts on Monday.
No reason was given for O'Brien's return to New Zealand and he will now miss the Twenty20 international against Australia and the three-match Chappell-Hadlee one-day series.
O'Brien, who played in the two-Test series loss to South Africa, conceded 52 runs in just four overs against a Cricket Australia Chairman's XI on Friday.
New Zealand lost the match by seven runs.
So is Mike's, his average in Australian domestic cricket was fairly average when he was selected for Australia. One knock doesn't make a player.

I'm sure he has, as have most other batsmen of his quality. They can score runs against quality opposition too, and usually on a more regular basis than Hussey, who is quite inconsistent.i just used that one example because its one that comes to mind and was recent... im sure he's made many more defining knocks
I was assuming that all teams would be at full strength, hence Ravi Bopara wouldn't be in the English side. However I do feel Hussey is better than Bopara. Hashim Amla is in strong form at the moment, and looks to have redeveloped his technique, so I doubt Hussey would slot into the South African side in place of him. Amla also has a very good average, once you take away his Test record.he'd play for Bopara definately in England
in India, fair nuff..
for Saffer he'd prolly battle with Amla.. and his stats are once again far superior
He averages 44.24 for Victoria, which is good, but not comparable to the likes of Simon Katich and Brad Hodge, the two batsmen he appears to be in competition with for a Test spot (aside from the incumbents).i would like to know whats his average in just aussie domestic.. dont know how to check that but id suggest its still really good
County cricket is an easy way to score runs, just look at the records of some of the overseas players who have had extended careers. Almost all of them will have improved their career average by cashing in against low quality opposition. This is particularly true for David Hussey, who plays in Division Two. There were twenty five players who averaged over 50 during the last county season, and that is for Division Two alone.County isn't all easy.. conditions are different.. there is reverse swing coz of the diff ball.. and there are some quality bowlers too..
You've picked out one point of my argument, presumably you agree with the rest of it?So is Mike's, his average in Australian domestic cricket was fairly average when he was selected for Australia.
