It should be said that I did not start the name calling:@

But it should also be said that I am old enough to not get involved in such silly slanging matches:-O

So sorry to all of those I have managed to upset in this thread (too many to list) but especially a certain member from NZ; JBH001, I have read a lot of your posts and certainly agree with most of your comments and when I don't agree most of them are very well expressed:)

So anyway well done Murali:)

Hey guys what happened here ? A blood bath ? Over what ?

I am shocked to see two of the nicest (and coolest in every sense of the term) guys on the CW getting so worked up. Sad.
Yeah, was kinda :blink::blink::blink: when I saw it myself TBH. Astounded. I'm not taking sides, though.

You ask "over what?" though? Very simple. A hugely emotive topic - the Murali-chucking issue. I quite understand why his defenders get so highly worked-up, I have myself so many times. I'll say what I've always said: to me, there is no logical reason to believe Murali chucks, nor that the laws were changed specifically for his benefit. To express either notion, to me, is plain madness, and that's why it so disappoints me that there are so many worthy souls who do such a thing.

The one point which I do find rather distateful is that if you happen to be from Australia and question Murali's action, often other posters will say "you're just jealous because he's taken over from Warne", which frankly is poppycock. It's as fair a comment as me saying "you only think his action is ok because you're from the subcontinent".

Each as meaningless as the other, imo. And both pretty damn insulting.
They are. And whenever someone says exactly such a thing, either one, you can fairly safely put them down in the "moron" camp.

HOWEVER, despite these there are still hundreds of people who debate the matter tastefully. And, as ss said, there is undoubtedly a far larger proportion of the Murali-is-a-chucker \ they-changed-the-rules-for-Murali brigade from Australia than anywhere else. This is why people sometimes get frustrated and say stuff like "it's because you're Australian". Not forgiveable, anyone who says such things should regret it - I myself have made comments along such lines before now, and certainly regretted it afterwards - but the reasons why people say such things are obvious.

Point remains that Ashraful and other top order batsmen from BD are way better than Mcgrath and many other tail order batsmen from other countries. So if we are talking about 'TEST CLASS' wickets then we need to define what is 'TEST CLASS' First.

Is a batsman test class by virture of playing for a so called test class team ? If not then Shane Warne's record doesn't include all test class batsman either.
Exactly. Should wickets of batsmen like Faisal Iqbal be counted as Test-class wickets? No IMO.

Nah..just 4 -5 people so far, but I dont mind having more. Just getting tired of repeated rants of certain individuals.
I still don't think Yousuf should have ever signed for the ICL in the first place as national pride > more money.

I really wish people would address the team=Test-class? issue rather than purely looking at things on a batsman-by-batsman basis. If you do that, you need to start including batsmen dismissed in domestic cricket in Test-dismissals tallies.

The issue is not about the value of a wicket. The issue is about the classification of a cricket match.

Don't see how domestic wickets come in.
