Same. Ronchi needs to be given a go. Same with the Pommy Basher (If his suspension is done by then...)
Ronchi's record in limited over cricket is rather dire.

He doesn't need to get a go at all while we have Haddin ready to take over best wicketkeeper batsman in the world mantle, now that Sangakarra is solely a batsman.

Ronchi is a madmax and freaky batsman who can simply destroy a bowling attack into shreds, he is a lot like Gilly in that aspect (if anything he is even more aggressive than Gilly) so he could be a perfect replacement for Gilly in Odi's, Haddin is gun batsman to but he is a middle order batsman and Gilly's retirement would leave the opener's slot vacant and i think Ronchi is a pretty good option to open with in Odi cricket.

Ronchi's not really like Gilchrist though; Gilchrist scores runs, Ronchi doesn't.
Lucky I'm hungover or I would have been on that like my dog on the neighbors one.
You're hungover a little too often of late for my liking young Johnathon.

Why on earth do the selectors persist with Voges ahead of more worthy players.?

More worthy like who?

Am I not correct in that Voges' OD average is in the mid-40s? What more can one do than that to catch the eye?

Persist with Voges? The guy has played one one dayer for ****s sake.

And who else ahead of him? Hussey? Hodge? Katich? Voges is in better one day knick than those three.

The only person in Australia who has better one day form than Voges is Michael Dighton and he isn't going to be picked any time soon.

It was a dumbing-down. Ronchi isn't a new Gilchrist because, even though he plays as many shots as the NSW-turned-WAn, he doesn't score anywhere near enough runs.

He still has time on his side - considering Gilchrist and Haddin have a fair few years left in the tank. Despite only averaging 35 this year - he's been fairly impressive.

So here we go again. I don't see the need for any changes in what should have been a winning side in South Africa. Fulton may have to wait a bit before getting back into the side, given how well How and McCullum performed. Of the current batting lineup, only Taylor looks likely to be dropped, given his poor form in South Africa, so it'll be interesting to see how he goes.
If Lou Vincent or Scott Styris or whoever goes down I'd rather have Peter Fulton than Gareth Hopkins on standby to come into the team. But there is definitely a strong case for keeping the same first XI.
Agreed. Fair enough to keep the same first XI, however Fulton should clearly be ahead of Hopkins in the squad as backup.

Nah, it's obviously because he's not Victorian. It has nothing to do with the fact that he has a superb List A record, is young and is in good touch - it's all about the selectors' hatred for Victorians.

He's, what, 26 now? Will be 27 by the end of this season. And been playing for a fair few years now.

Maybe he'll get better, but to date his career smacks of the utterly typical "he's a strokeplayer, must be a good OD batsman, better than FC" even when his actual run-scoring suggests precisely the opposite.

If he plays for Australia ahead of Brad Haddin it'll be an impossible injustice.

Maybe he'll come home and put pressure on McCullum's place along with Griggs and Van Wyk so we generate some real competition for the keepers spot and as a result have a battle hardened bastard of a keeper at the end of it?

No I will NOT let it go! Especially since he's originally from the Central Districts area!
