***Official*** England in Sri Lanka

Kandy always been a 200-300 ground max. If England lead by over hundred they will have batted out of their skins.
That's what I mean....Kandy Asgiriya is not a high scoring Venue...300 is a big score there. And a lead of 100 or more will be a match winning one given that run scoring gets harder as the game goes on...

England have a chance to nail it today...if 2-3 of their top order ie Vaughan, Bell or KP/Collie grind an innings of 50 plus each...

Jason I respect your knowledge of Sri Lankin grounds but I say England are heading for a first innings lead of at least 150 and probably more unless Murali turns in a miracle performance. The pace bowlers are not in form.
Knowing our batting (inclusive of a debutant and a tail that basically starts at seven) I don't think that's a likelihood at all. A possibility, certainly, especially if Pietersen were to get going, but if he weren't I'd bank on roughly first-innings parity.

Madness from Jayawardene to start this morning with Fernando. Absolute madness. Nothing wrong with waiting to bring Murali in, though obviously you can't go too far wrong if you start with him either, but should have started with Maaaalinga for my money.

Bell has looked in incredible touch given how poorly he fared in the tour-game. (*Cue him hitting one straight to a fielder*)

Quiet so far today, hey?

Ball starting to reverse-swing, the Lankans failed to get anything much with the new-ball, unlike England, but are now finding reverse where England didn't (though, obviously, didn't particularly need to.

Think this might just have been a very, very nice toss to lose. Though obviously Murali can change matters in a session.

Gooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeee (as PY would say).

Vaughan not happy with the decision, can't moan too much after the earlier one in his favour tho. EDIT: nah, definately no inside-edge.

Murali gets 700 official-Test wickets for SL.
