Why? FC average of 36 is not good enough to get you in the test team in the first place. Certainly use him in the one day team but he's not a good FC/test player yet so why stop someone better from shining by persisting with someone who would do better to rack up the runs in FC cricket.
Because he's the most talented young player we have and we have to get him accustomed to playing test cricket and scoring runs regularly. We can't afford to have a player of his ability sitting on the sidelines imo. I think he will cream the Bangladeshi bowlers and cement his place in the side for some time anyway

He'll cream the Bangladeshies and get creamed by the pommies.

Best side plays. Taylor doesn't make our best side ATM. He will one day, but not now.

Well there are 4 batsmen there that he will be better than for a start in Cumming, How, Fulton and Sinclair imo so you need to find a place for him somewhere and the sooner the better. He's an incumbent anyway and will play in all tests this season imo

I think Fulton will be a very, very good batsman actualy. He has a naturally cool head which Taylor doesn't possess. He doesn't panic, can grind out a long innings, csn accelerate as well, can play off both the front and back foot with confidence, has a good technique etc

Sinclair looks a much better batsman than Taylor.

I think Taylor will end up a bit like McMillan. I could be very wrong of course, but Taylor is just showling signs of playing shots just for the hell of it. I do hope I'm wrong.

I know the perfect place for Taylor. County cricket.

I just flat out disagree that he is/will be better than Fulton and Sinclair. How and Cumming are selected as openers and they are better openers than Taylor would be IMO so he just misses out.

Fair enough, just means I rate him higher than you do. We will see in a few years who was right I guess :)

On the basis of what?
On the basis that he has a good technique and pretty good 1st class record batting there. He will probably never get the chance but there have been occasions when he has looked the most technically sound batsman in the team. I think Ian Chappell said that in one of the tests against Aussie too at some point

No, just no.

Look what he did in 2000-2001. He's probably a better player now but has played bugger all 1st class cricket due to the amount of ODers he plays and the fact he has had to concentrate more on his bowling. He's a much under-rated bat iyam
One superlative season out of 9. In the last three seasons he has played 16 games, that's a reasonable amount to make a judgement on. Now when he averages 12.35 over those three seasons then I think we can safely assume that he isn't that good anymore. I'm not denying he has a good FC record and a sound technique, but he's pretty poor now, and has been for quite a while.

Also, IYAM?

I can't see him batting at six, but he could bat at around eight. I'd love to see him bat with Franklin and Vettori for an extended run. They'd be the best 8-9-10 combination in the world IMO.

Yes, yes they would.

One good game and people start putting Jamie How in their teams??? For crying out loud, how much do you want to jerk your knees? Have you been putting your fingers in the AC outlet again? How does not suddenly become a good player overnight - he is NOWHERE near as good as Papps or Cumming or Bell or (insert recent opening batsman here) and may only be marginally better than Hamish Marshall.

I think we are just pleased that someone in the top 3 almost got a century. Hell, we are pleased that someone in the top 3 got past 20 on this god-forsaken tour.

Doesn't please me when his success will lead us up a blind alley for up to 12 months until he either gets injured or has a run of 6 successive single figure scores.

I would have to DWTA actually Heath. He's a better prospect than any of those guys you mentioned imo. Cumming and Bell are too old for a start and Papps would struggle to make the Hobbiton 3rd XI at the moment
