Reed gets his 100...then gets out next ball.

The collapse has now started -- 311/4 to 314/6. Hopefully I'll get the six runs required for another batting point, but I doubt I'll make 360 for the last...never mind declaring at 380 as I'd hoped.

Should still win, of course...and hopefully in two days :)

Bah. They're just too good for me. Best I can hope for is a better batting performance the second time round so that we avoid an innings defeat and make it to the third day, but I won't be holding my breath.

End of Over 56 (Maiden). The Heath CC: 126-8, runrate=2.25
Trail by 241 runs. (popey cc 367-5 dec)
Tumisang 10-2-17-0
Liddle* 0 (0 balls)
Marrison 2 (17 balls)

Last Wicket: Sutton c & b. Devaney 39 (FOW: 126/8)

5 wickets down for 50 runs this morning.

As expected, Bromby and Platt are flaying my opponent's tired bowlers to all corners. Am set to declare only 170 or so ahead to make sure I've got time to bowl them out again; should be easy to chase any lead they might regain, assuming I bowl them out with at least one session remaining.

End of Over 71 (12 runs, 1lb). Beard XI: 377-1, runrate=5.31
Lead by 48 runs. (KFC Select XI 329-10)
Beckett 18-2-73-1
Platt* 195 (229 balls)
Bromby 134 (134 balls)

End of Over 29 (Maiden). The Heath CC: 87-3, runrate=3.00 (1st Inn: 141-10)
Trail by 139 runs. (popey cc 367-5 dec)
Hoult 8-2-11-1
Kepler* 42 (62 balls)
Sutton 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Gardiner c. Derbyshire b. Hoult 20 (FOW: 87/3)

28.6 W Hoult to Gardiner
That's gone! Gardiner launched himself at it, but only succeeded in picking out the fielder in the deep.

Meh, had to happen at some point. Hopefully Sutton can occupy the crease as well as last time out though.

Edit: At tea:

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 39 (6 runs). The Heath CC: 108-3, runrate=2.77 (1st Inn: 141-10)
Trail by 118 runs. (popey cc 367-5 dec)
Hoult 13-3-24-1
Sutton* 8 (23 balls)
Kepler 54 (99 balls)

Last Wicket: Gardiner c. Derbyshire b. Hoult 20 (FOW: 87/3)

Valiant innings from Kepler, still lots of work to do though.

Dammit, they're putting up resistance!

150/3 fom 45 overs, still 76 runs behind my first innings score. I collapsed miserably from 310/3 to 321ao...but that's probably to be expected with a decent (albeit knackered) bowler at each end.

The current partnership's worth 43 -- I could do with breaking it and exposing the tail, or the match is going to go to a third day.

I dont understand, you are winning, there is still another day, surely your actual bowlers will come back sooner or later, and finish the job.

Well, there's been a HUGE partnership for the 4th wicket, taking them to 244/3. Finally got the breakthrough though, and it's 249/4 -- they're leading by 23 runs.

Looking highly unlikely that this'll finish today, unless there's one hell of a collapse.

Failing to make much of an impact having declared on 507-2 with a 178-run lead. Goldarn sunny weather. Hope it's not the same tomorrow, or with their batting they might yet salvage a draw.

After a very promising opening day, which saw me brush aside 2nd place Ruatha for just 217 and finish in reply on 113/1, I have very much thrown the win away on day two.

Jeffery added to his 4/60 by top scoring with 120, and Greening hit 93 in a first innings total of 275, though we lost our last nine wickets for 80.

Then Ruatha raced away second time around, posting 179 for the loss of only Sup Hemsly, to see them leading by 121 with a day to play.

All my bowlers, and my top three batsmen have been switched to Att, in the hope of taking advantage of any openings which may occur, though in truth it's looking like a nailed-on draw. I guess they could still win it, but it's going to take a lot of balls for them to declare at a point which would leave them enough time to skittle me.

After absolutely shooting myself in the foot by having first use of a green batting strip on a cloudy and humid day and consequently being shot out for 129, My boys have spent the rest of the match clawing thier way back into the game by restricting the opposition t0 238 all out from 155/1. We now stand at 347/3 with tons from Clunnie and Bissmire and 50s for Samiullah and Steyn looking to take this game away from them and perhaps force the 10 wickets needed for a win.

popey cc: 367/5 (76)
The Heath CC: 141 (64.3) Kepler 40, Sutton 39
The Heath CC (following on): 251/7 (79) Kepler 93

A genuinely ballsy performance from The Heath CC today. From 76/3 overnight, we stumbled to 141 all out and were made to follow on, 226 runs behind. Grant and Bartlett saw us through to lunch without any major alarms but both departed within quick succession shortly after the break. Kepler came out and showed that as well as flaying the ball around the park a la Kevin Pietersen, he can also occupy the crease against superior bowlers, and his 93 from 164 balls, supported by Gibson (34 from 87), Hennessy (31* from 59) and Gardiner (20 from 67) enabled us to reach the third day and ensured that popey cc would have to bat again.

Losing James early on means some nailbiting on day three, need 95 more runs and they ran through us last morning. Hopefully some more normal orders and the presence of Maidens at seven saves the day though.

Fairly sure my pitch has turned into a road. Poke with 13/13 but its looking more and more like a draw.

EDIT: Poke gets a full over at a prof bat on a cracked pitch, gets another maiden, ffs, get a wicket.
