Nah, lunch was prepared by the club. Mum wasn't even watching, sadly. :(

Was the worst pitch you could ever imagine, mind - barely a ball rose above shin height, no matter what the length. And none of the batsmen bar one were good enough to play forward to everything.
I was only joking Rich...but I think you know that ;)

I do. My favourite combat to irritating jokes is to reply as if they're not jokes.
And my combat to irritating people who like to combat irritating jokes by replying as if they're not jokes is to reply as if they didn't get the joke :p

Hussey is 32

KP is 27

Given his dedication to fitness and training plus the hunger, it's easy to see Hussey playing until close to 40.

KP doesnt strike me as the same - he'll be gone to showbiz or whatever by 35

Therefore, longevity is out as they'll retire at the same time

Unfortunately, it comes down to skill and 30+ runs per innings leaves only one answer - Hussey
You state all this as if it is fact. KP has a great hunger for playing cricket IMo and I reckon he'll play 100 Tests.

And Hussey hasn't scored 30+ rpi, it's 15. He averages 30 more, but that's different, as you well know.

No, it's having an opinion that isn't different to the majority.

Pretty much just the same as Prince EWS and Trevor Gripper. The majority of people wouldn't like to watch him, but I'm sure Prince would.
Gripper is/was in fact my favourite batsman ever. Well picked. :p

Love KP but he has fewer really significant knocks for his team.
4 or 5 years ago, he was regularly making vital runs in tough situations. Nowadays his average is maintained by cashing in hugely when the going is easy but disappearing when it's tougher.

Yeah, just seems to take a 'dgaf' attitude to the crease in a crunch situation, has some dumbass dismissals lately.

Yeah, he doesn't come accross as a team player just a 'look at me' type of person who can't control himself as the situation may require.

Highly talented, but fatally flawed.

When you look back at both of their careers once they have finished, Pietersen will end up being ahead because of volume; more matches will mean more runs and centuries. I'd probably put Pietersen just ahead at the moment anyway, Hussey not having got the job done in a number of places overseas, and will not get the chance to rectify many of those.

I think Pietersen with something to prove is a monster of a player, and in recent times he hasn't always felt that he has anything to prove. He's good enough to make decent runs batting how he wants to bat, but he could be/could have been a lot more.

On pure ability (hand eye coordination, shot placement, natural timing, power etc.) he's ahead, yeah. Also way ahead in the 'infuriating his fans' stakes and the 'selfishness' tables. Much prefer Hussey as a person and a player but KP will be viewed more favourably in the future.

What stands out about Pietersen in recent years (2009 - present) is how miserably he's failed against the strongest attacks, ie. South Africa & Pakistan. He's been mediocre against the former & dire against the latter.

TBH I'd take Hussey over Pietersen anyway, can dig in or attack more versatile as a batsman for me given that fact.

Granted I can't see Hussey carting an attack at a S/R of 90 to set up the strong victory but nor can I see Hussey gifting his wicket away as easily as Pietersen does.

Can very well see Hussey carting an attack at over 90 if the situation demands it tbh, for an accumulator the guy is incredible at manufacturing runs and boundaries. Also one of the best I've seen at coming in and just hammering sixes straight away... if the situation demands it. Realise I'm talking more ODIs here but there is some overlap in the skillsets.
