Neville injured again. His legs made of paper or something.. Anyway hopefully he'll be back in time for the back end of the season and for Euro 2008 if you English make it.

Has anyone else seen the tackle on Celtic's Scott Brown from the match against Benfica? Tbh, it looks fairly dodgy, the guys stamped on his leg just below the kneecap, lucky he didn't break his leg or anything.

It's a dead set disgrace - should cop a lot more than the standard 3-game band for a straight red IMO.

Saw it in the pub the other day over and over again. Looked like a definite leg breaker to me, but it's just about held up.
Thing is with that challenge, is there's no way you can say he was going for the ball at all, so he's clearly done it with intent to hurt which frankly is piss poor.

well the internationals are just about here again for England, and well even though qualifying is not in Englands hands anymore, we still need to win against Croatia. So the squad i'm looking at this time around:

1. James
2. Carson
3. Green/Robinson - Robbo has been in bad form for a while now while Green has looked very solid for the hammers between the sticks this season. I would pick him & drop Robbo but i'm not sure if McClaren will.

4. Richards
5. Campbell
6. Woodgate - with Ferdinand suspended Terry out, King Woodgate even though has been with the struggling Middlesbrough is still naturally one of the best defenders in the land. A must pick for me for such a crutial game.
7. Bridge
8. Neville/Young - heard Neville got injured again so Young to replace him if not fit my next week.
9. Lescott
10. Dawson
11. Baines/Shorey

12. Beckham
13. Hargreaves
14. Gerrard
15. Lampard
16. Barry
17. Cole
18. Barton/Reo-Coker - England need some hard men in mid-field as options for Crotia along with Hargreaves & these two blokes fit that criteria.
19. Bentley
20. Young

21. Rooney
22. Owen
23. Heskey/Crouch - if Heskey if not fit in time i'll have Crouch
24. Agbonlahor - man i really think this bloke should be picked now he is one of the in-form striker ATM. Some may argue they don't think he is international quality as yet but he has given all of the major sides defenses a hard time from what i've seen.

Obviously McClaren will pick more but at least these players should be picked. So go Yossi Benayoun & England...

Barton and Bridge haven't played for ages and they just walk into the squad with no match fitness. I think they're injured still also.

Gotta agree with Fergie on the 7 subs rule. Would help in development of youngsters who've played well getting a post on the bench and maybe a shot to come on late ahead of a regular first team player if the game's won and it wouldn't make much sense bringing on the established player.

Bolton hold Bayern Munich to a 2-2 all draw. Considering this was a Bolton 2nd string side apprently.

Yea, but i don't think it would be much of a problem if selected. We know what they are capable of & 2-3 league games plus some solid training should be good for the blokes.

edit: I see the squad is picked & had you got to laugh at his selections sometimes. He is got to be the only manager in Europe that picks such big squads beyond what is required for major tournaments. Really wouldn't it be wise just to pick 23 & look to set in his mind what the best squad in the land is?

His constant selection of crap players, geez for god sake Phil Neville is useless, Brown not international quality full-back or central defender, Smith arghhhhhhhh the bloke doesn't even know what his best position, Downing too slow to be an international left-winger you have Young why pick him & two strikers who unfortunately aren't first team regulars, Bridge & Cole the two best left-backs in England are fit what use has Shorey?, same thing goes for SWP. Plus where is Woodgate don't feel confident about the Campbell/Lescott partnership for the Croatia game at all. Damn its like he picks some players for no reason..

No tactics whatsoever from the man, Croatia are a physical team pick he should remember that pick mid-fielders like Barton or Reo-Coker who could add some aggression to the mid-field along with Hargreaves, and players who are first team regulars who play every week and do well for their clubs like Agbonlahor or Johnson.

SWP deserves to be in there based on how he played while Beckham wasn't around in recent times. Not sure on exactly how fit Cole is.

Yes he is apparantley given that he is in the squad, but i see what you are saying Shorey is probably a precautionary selection in case Cole isn't ready by next week.

SWP yea he played well against some average teams but just as the case with Robinson who may have had all those clean sheats for England but was beaten more often for the spurs than any other keeper in the land, it shouldn't blind us from the great flaws he has in his game i.e pace but no final ball which against all decent to major teams as shown in Russia he will get exposed & was. Beckham is back goes right into the starting line-up & you have Bentley easily the best performing right-winger in England this season as his back-up simple. The SWP's, Lennon's & Pennant's don't deserve to be in the England team ATM.

I wouldn't say Phil Neville is useless, I'm not saying he is a great player, but I think he is a solid workman-like player who is definatly not a knob like Joey Barton. If he had gone down the cricketing path instead (which he was quite useful at IIRC) and he could be picked for any country then he would be somebody from the NZ cricket team.

Rumours floating that Inter and Man City will swap strikers on loan for 6 months. Adriano to City and Rolando Bianchi to Inter. Would be a good idea, Inter could use an Italian and Adriano needs to go away and get his head sorted and there will be players at City who can speak either one or two of the languages he does and if in form he could carve up.
