Well played India. Spinners bowled really well and the luck went your way. Were definately the better team, but the Pakistani fielding killed this match as a contest for me.

Malik appeared absolutely clueless as captain on the field. The difference between him and Dhoni as leaders is stark.

I didn't watch the game, but my dad watched it in Singapore and I was speaking to him and he said that exact same thing. He does not rate Malik at all as captain, and apparently it was really obvious that he had no idea today.

Yes he has started poorly as a captain, but he is still very young and can surely only improve from here.

That was a pretty bad match in terms of quality.
Not on India's part. Clinical display in all departments of game, no reliance on any superstar in any aspect, and lots of contributions all around.

India chased down 240, could've easily chased down 265, and at a stretch 280 as well. This, in spite of the legendary opening pair failing.

India were solid, but let's not get carried away though. Pace bowlers were still not outstanding, and they played against some **** opposition today.

That being said, seems like they handled Akhtar and Gul fairly well (barring Gambhir's two edges in a row which went through slips, but every player has their fair share of luck at some stage).

Yeah I like Malik, so I hope you're right.

I just wish he sort of took the role similar to Dhoni did. As in "don't really care about the seniors, I'll respect them but I'll do it my way and show everyonet hat".

Now fair enough, Dhoni's position in the team, and importance as a marketable player is more so than Malik, so Dhoni had a better chance of taking this stance, but I hope Malik is stronger in the dressing room. A captain should slay their team after a performance like that (though Malik dropped a catch too didn't he?).

Whatever it takes!!!
i could careless if musharf gets shot in the head, or benazir get shot in the head.. what i am concern about is the civilian people there in pakistan.. i hope they are ok and they get through this safely.. i personally don't like any politicians and i don't trust them.. i would be happy if all these politicians were put in the car and explode the car with a bomb... this includes the likes of Bush, osama, masharaf, karzi, nawaz sharif, benazir and soo on..
I am REALLY happy that you missed out on one very famous Pakistan politician there.... :)

I am sure at least one member would have personally wanted to kill you had you mentioned his name in that list. ;) :p

I fail to understand how a bloke like Malik would command respect within his team when his own role is so limited he bowls 2 or 3 overs and comes to bat in the last few overs, i think its about time he leads from the front and sets an example for his side that's the only way he can improve his captaincy and stature in the side.

I am disappointed with the quality of the pitch, the ball is keeping low every time the ball hits the pitch its breaking up, the pitch atm looks like a day 5 pitch of a test match.
Cricket is not all about batsmen. Not every pitch that offers something to the bowlers is a BAD or DIRE pitch. This was a good wicket simply because it forced the batsmen to do something different and gave something for the bowlers' to work with. If it had been a BAD pitch to bat on, teams would not be able to score 240 and then see it chased down rather easily. It was a pitch where stroking the ball freely was difficult and I don't see any reason at all why such pitches should be termed BAD. After all, it was not unpredictable. You KNEW it was gonna be slow and low right from the start and if the players can't adjust to a predictable pitch, then the fault is with them. Australian pitches always tend to be faster and boucier than pitches across the world, so that makes them all DIRE pitches, right?

Being young can not and should not be an excuse. He was given the job because he supposedly had impressed people with whatever opportunity he had to lead in domestic cricket etc. But sadly the guy has no clue.

After winning the toss he elected to bat which was a wrong decision when you have got Gul who is deadly even in slightly helpful conditions. Also when he was asked why he chose to bat..his response was like ...we got some batsmen in the team...

duh.

Yeah pretty dire decision to do a re-toss after you've won it the first time.

I think in today's game, Malik under bowled himself.
