some fegotting crcket palyers who have great records are people likes of peter may who succesfully sucseeded Len Huton but had to resighn due to illness and teh bower of Tony Lock who was one of teh best left arm spinners ever!
I'd hardly call May and Lockie "forgotten", Olwe, at least not by the standards of this thread.

On the Colin Croft note, I was mildly surprised to notice he'd taken up a teaching post - Maths and Sport - at a Prep School in the South of England.
Whoever would have thought that his career path would converge so closely with mine...
You share a passion for psychopathic short-pitched deliveries, too, remember. Ask some Australia or England batsman from around 1979\80 and Mike Wilkinson.
No, I just wanted to injure you. I'm sure Mr Croft would feel the same.
It wasn't me who complained about your Bouncers, remember? I egged you on.
It was Wilko who felt endangered.
This is a quite fascinating exchange -- all the more so as I don't understand it. Care to provide any background?

......

Don't worry about all those silly on-topic replies, they do somewhat make the exchange disjointed, but it's all there, just keep scrolling down (and, depending on your post-per-page settings, clicking on that "next page" link).

Thanks. I'll use that blow-by-blow record to rev me up for tomorrow's vigil.

I've heard an endless amount about him, his younger brother taught me Maths for 4 years 8-)

Also....Prabath Nissanka...whatever happened to him...I thought he had plenty of potential, pretty handy pace and could swing the ball away...injuries ?

No, he just had the accuracy of a dizzy Ray Charles.

He was almost as bad as K Eric Upashantha, and that's saying something!

His problem was that he just didn't realise how good he was. Fred Trueman always said that, if Hawke ever wrote an autobiography, there'd be nothing about its subject.

well, in my generation they have at lest been fegottern, but then in my classes in collage, people (who are into cricket which is getting less i find) have not heard of the likes of Jardine, Knott,or evern Wally Hammond; people have only heard of current players, (or very resent) or players who have a huge name like Bradman, Botham or Trueman for example.

Would I be correct in thinking that you don't turn up for many of these classes.

That is a shame for the History of the game. It is up to forums such as this to set up a cricket history area to inform.
