yea he had a few dropped too and close LBW shouts

sometimes u can bowl well and not get wickets... i hope its not a habit though..if that makes sense.. sometimes luck isnt on ur side and it stays that way... eh..
just like Strauss last year in the Ashes.. he said he felt he was batting well but kept going out

Actually, form has to do with how you are bowling. Maher testified that Lee was bowling very, very well out there. Results don't mean a whole lot...I believe Lee and Maher when they say he was bowling well. Wickets don't mean you're bowling well just as not getting wickets doesn't mean you're bowling poorly.
The number of wickets a bowler takes is more often than not a guide to how well they are bowling.

What does Hayden bowl?
Right-arm medium pace. Actually the medium bit might be a bit generous, mind you he even had a crack when Laxman and Dravid when nuts in Kolkata in 2001. You know it is dire when Hayden, Slater and Langer all have a bowling spell.

Lee is happy with his form :sly: :@ he should look at ways to pick wickets rather than living in his own bubble and feeling that i am in top form and bowling well especially when he is expected to lead the bowling attack!

Hayden actually took a fair few wickets when he was captain of Northampshire a couple years back. Back then he used to bowl with decent pace.

Nah, Clark's just lucky...similar to how McGrath was consistently lucky on flat decks

Dizzy ton just quietly.
On fire with the predictions lately.

As Roebuck agreed with me, Lee was a lot poorer than Bracken (who he said to be the pick) and Clark on that fourth day. Bit worried if Lee is happy with it.

Put me down as a Manou basher. I completely ignored how solid he looked in the OD against Vic and here he is, showing real application for a great ton, almost breaking the all time Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup 8th wicket partnership in the process. In fairness, Tassie were a bowler down and he was the bloke doing all the damage. Still, Tassie cruising at stumps.

As for Test form, I'd reckon the Aussie selectors will go for MacGill for the SL series but if he's kept quiet, will use it as justification for knocking his career on the head and picking Hoggy for the India series.

Me personally, I'd go for Hogg. He's bowling really, really well and is batting well. At his age, to be that hungry, is what you need. It comes down to a choice; do you pick a bloke who is more talented with the ball but vastly inferior with the bat and in the field (bit of a liability, in fact) and who's out-of-form but evidently believes it to be his God-given right to be in the side or do you go for the bloke who's in form with bat and ball, a gun in the field and would kill for a place?

Finally... something going right for the Redbacks though not much went right for them with the ball, but superb stuff from Manou and Gillespie, Dizzy in a quite way has made his presence felt and i hope he can get in some sort of a bowling form too.
Anyways does anyone think Dizzy still has chance to play for Australia ever again?

Gillespie's batting has improved out of sight. Much in the mould of Noffke. At the same time however, his bowling has massively dropped off...

Don't think the bowling has gone down that much tbh, had a stellar Pura Cup season two years ago and last years wasn't so bad. Not sure how well he was looking with the ball in this match though.

Divvers, tons up (y) well done son.

EDIT: And he's out, LBW Cullen for 138. Ponting still there on 86, and Birt 6, although he was just dropped by Lehman...

Ohhhhhh, Ponting out on 96, caught behind off Tait. Still, a good hitout for him, obviously in good touch still (y)

Geez Wa have a fantastic batting line up today, mind you Victoria have a decent one too.
Should be a decent game :)

To get outright points? Cricketing ettiqutte - if you declare short, then you've shown your intent for an outright result. It's then the responsibility of the other side to set up the game in the third innings. If you don't do it, then you're only shooting yourselves in the foot. Other sides won't do the right thing by you in the future.

I really don't agree with the logic of it at all though. To me, all it does is create artificial results. If your opposition can't get you out quick enough or cheaply enough, they don't deserve outright points. The same goes for if you can't get your opposition out - you don't deserve the points. Outright points shouldn't be something achieved by sporting declarations; they should be a byproduct of a really good performance whereby you outplay the opposition and bowl well enough to dismiss them twice within the given time of the match. Watching your opposition declare 4 down and then perish in the persuit of an artificial target on the last day isn't something I think should be rewarded. The current points system encouraging such is as much to blame as anything.

McGain bowling well, Langer brings up his 50. Funny, whenever I watch Langer playing one-dayers he absolutely guns it.
