Surprised it hasn't been picked up yet, but Warne's record is actually 708. If Murali finishes on 709 he'll hold the record.

Australia to win 2-0 but I'd imagine that Murali would take the nine (or ten?) wickets to overtake Warne - as in reality he'll be bowling 40-50 overs each test you'd imagine?

Well Stuey Clark has made a prediction of his own, he has predicted a 2-0 and 4-0 wins for Australia during this summer's test series against Sri Lanka and India so Stuey is trying his level best to fill into Glenn's shoes in every possible way ;)!
As far i am concerned i think Aussies would try to delay Murali's magical moment for as long as they can but i think since Murali might bowl 50% of Sri Lanka's overs during this series so there is a good chance he might break Warne's record in this series itself, but as far as the result of the series is concerned it would be 2-0 in Australia's favour IMO.

Just quietly I think people are underestimating SL here - Murali, Vaas and Malinga is nothing to laugh at. Plus a few quality batsmen make them a very formidable side on their day. If Australia are complacent they may get quite badly stung.
Their batsmen aren't as effective in away conditions as they are at home though. Maybe even the most advantaged by home conditions out of all the subcontinental team's batting lineups. Although they do have classy batsmen like Sangakarra and Jayawardene who can score in all conditions.

 Great to see Stu has taken up the baton!

If he really wants to be the new Pidge though he needs to come out in the press and tell us all how he's going to nail Sangakarra/Jayawardene and Sachin/Dravid. And do it.

Not to mention Atapattu...

He > both of them when in the right frame of mind (which there's about a 50\50 chance of him being).

Murali overhauls Warne's tally of 709 and goes past it AND the series would be level tied, 1-1

i would like to see lee and tait opening the Aussie bowling.. fast both of them over 90 mph..

i think that murali could and should pass warne's total of 709 wickets
the series will probably be tied 1-1

No way. Aussies to win 2-0, and at least one of those by an innings or 300+ runs. I don't see Murali getting that many Aussie wickets in Australia.

A prediction I am hoping that will not come to pass and I am expecting mature crowd behaviour and common decency by the overwhelming majority of Aussie fans to get rid of poorer elements in the crowd.
I'm sure when (if) he does break the record the crowd will give him the standing ovation he deserves, but the rest of the time he's gonna cop it lol particularly given how big a deal the media keep making of him being targeted.

I dont think there'll be too much in the way of racial or serious abuse, but there'll be a barrage of "no-ball", "chucker", "cheat" taunts, he'll just have to deal with it.

John Howard to be reeeeeeeeeally ungracious when Murali breaks Warne's record for mine.

2-0 Oz, because it's quicker than thinking about the variables. :p

Australia should win both tests easily. The record is the more interesting contest and I am inclined to think Murali will squeak through.
