Battle Three
Richie Benaud vs David Lloyd
The Form Guide: Pre tournament favourite Benaud blasted through against Waqar Younis in round one, a sympathy vote for Younis preventing a Benaud whitewash. Lloyd, in contrast, bumbled through against the greasy Mark Nicholas to face a surely unwinnable second round draw.
David Lloyd
Playing Career: A stalwart for Lancashire CCC, he played a handful of tests and ODIs for England before later becoming coach
Commentating Pedigree: Famous for his cutting one-liners; particularly for an unkind comparison between the various bowling merits for Nathan Astle and Graham Thorpe, he has been in the commentary box since reliquishing his coaching and umpiring careers.
Other:* Commentates the annual Mascot Derby in English County Cricket
Richie Benaud
Playing Career: Took Australia to the top of the cricket ladder, captaining the team from 1959 and playing in a total of 63 tests prior to retiring in 1964. A useful batsman, but primarily a leg-spin bowler.
Commentating Pedigree: Took a course in becoming a BBC presenter after the Ashes tour of 1956, but finally moved into commentary after retiring from his playing career. Has commentated ever since. In the UK, he commentated for the BBC and then Channel 4 until the coverage was taken by Sky in 2006. He has continued to commentate for Channel Nine in Australia after this time.

* Inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2007
* Appeared in adverts for the Australian Tourist Board, stating various Australian locations to be "Marvellous!"
