Cricket Chat is not same ...............

I don't find cricket chat as active and interesting as it was like an year ago despite more people registering than ever before. One of the possible reasons could be that members like luckyeddie,marc71178,C_C etc not posting anymore & creation of new forums like Cricket Coaching etc. Also, there are much less active threads than they used to be sometime ago.Have your say!

I dunno mate. I can't wait until a few countries especially Australia start playing Test Matches. Most people on here are Test fans so there isn't as much to talk at the moment, I would assume..

Yes,most people including me are Test fans but there was a time when the untagged threads even on the second page used to be active & if no one in a thread for few hours,it could not be found on the first & some times even on the 2nd page!

Don't think it's a huge secret that CC is currently a bit quieter than it has been of some times in its past - earlier this year, or back in early 2005 for instance.

Here are some names who have either left (hopefully temporarily in most cases) or basically never post any more:
marc71178
Neil Pickup
Jono
superkingdave
Scaly piscine
tooextracool
aussie
Voltman
benchmark00
C_C
Sudeep
Adamc
Slow Love™
Top_Cat
FRAZ
_Ed_
masterblaster
The Baconator
Samuel_Vimes
Waughney
Jungle Jumbo
chris.hinton
cricketboy29
Pedro Delgado
a massive zebra
LongHopCassidy
16 tins of Spam
Steulen
BlackCap_Fan

And some who've been absent, temporarily, recently:
Mr Mxyzpltk
Craig
FaaipDeOiad
SJS
Pratyush
adharcric
PY
Barney Rubble
Tim
twctopcat

Now, of course, losses like these - all bar 3 or 4 of the above the forum would be better with than without them - will always have some impact. There have been quality newcomers - to name some who've joined in the last year or so:
pup11
Pup Clarke
Athlai
Flem274*
shortpitched713
Raghav
HeathDavisSpeed
Nishant
The Sean
cover drive man
Poker Boy
1-9-7-7
headhunter
stumpski
NUFAN
(Let's note - this is BY NO MEANS an exhaustive list)

So there are ups and downs; obviously, ideally we'd like the ups without the downs, but the sad reality is that life does change; most of the departures named above have been because people have been doing stuff (mostly education-related) that has meant they've had less time or less ability to get net access than they once did. And as I say - while this is a great shame, it's almost unavoidable.

Nonetheless, I doubt any would be sorry to see the return of the likes of Matt Pitt, tec, Corey, Jesse, Marc, FRAZ, amz, etc. And if they ever do return, CW will be the richer for it.

I would live to believe that its just a temporary phase and as NUFAN already mentioned once the Australian cricket summer begins there would be a lot more activity on CC, so Bhupinder don't worry mate CC still rocks:cool:.

I don't always get to watch a lot of cricket, so I can't feel my opinions can add a lot know, plus sometimes I CBF following threads when they get massively out of hand. If I see a topic I like, I post.

But as Richard said, yeah some quality posters have left, but some great ones have come in their place and in CC at least, there is no shortage of them. The main ones that have left have been more OT based anyways.

Well what are you going to offer for me to remove it?

Kinda like what craig said above when these's threads get out of hand my short knowledge of cricket is no match for that of some of the guys on here.

You reckon? I'd say a fair few of those I listed at least:

were pretty regular CCers.

Certainly, Marc, Jesse, FRAZ, Edmunds, amz and 16toS were; and I'm sure you'll remember tec's posting pattern. :p I'd be delighted to have the lot of them back (yes, both Marc and tec included ) and certainly very much hope it'll happen. Fuller used to post loads in CC when he could get on CW regularly; and I simply don't have a clue why guys like Jono, Hakon and Alex (of the Crampton variety) virtually never post here any more, as it's a damn shame. Obviously, guys like Manju, Gegy, Mat Mitchell, Dan Smith, etc. regard the place as "too uptight" and all that crap. I hope it's not the same for the 3 I just mentioned, as Jono especially was at one point a pillar of strength. Even Fullins was back in t' day.

Also, what BhupinderSingh says is certainly very true; of late it's been rare, even if I have a whole day where I don't view the forum, for the first page to be full of new-post threads. There have been times in my CW life when it's been halfway through the 2nd page for all the new ones in less than a day. The quality may not have declined in CC (that's pretty much guranteed as long as SJS is around TBH, we missed him hugely in his recent illness) but the quantity certainly has, and while quality sans quantity is better than quantity sans quality, obviously ideally you'd have both.

I know what you guys mean in terms of the if-it-goes-too-quickly-I-CBA-following lark. That's why I so rarely do official tour threads when the games are in motion (and it's a massive effort to do so when I do, as I have a bit lately with England-related ones), and it's the reason on all bar 1 occasion (the very first) why I've drifted off and had massive long absences from CW when I have.

Of late that's not happened outside tour-threads that often, though, for a variety of reasons including me now having a laptop, me making more of an effort to post during games, and the fact that several people have said "you should post in match threads".

That'd be more schoolwork, bit of a taper off in interest in cricket and just generally not being arsed anymore. Mostly the latter probably.

edit: jono posts, usually when there is anything worth responding to - which is pretty seldom these days.

To be honest, hardcore net posting is always going to remain the preserve of those of us lucky enough to have the time and the lack of commitment around in order to give the free time available to devote to it: i.e. schoolkids, students, the unemployed and civil servants.

I wouldn't think the average poster age is dramatically different to three or four years ago: we've grown up, got jobs, found social lives, been diverted. Now we are yielding the fruit of being five years down the line in an education system that has given us the multiple choice GCSE and people putting apostrophes in "needs".

I wonder what CW 2012 will be like? "cricket woz gud, lyk afrede hitted ball well gud but cook iz 2 borin lol y cant he hit 6 more". Perhaps that's just the fruit of a 3am posting: but nevertheless, it's one to toss out there - blame the education system / blame teenagers / blame text culture / blame Canada. Pick one.
