Not sure whether Dave would have leapfrogged Hodge in the selector's minds yet though. Surely they've both got more runs on the board (metaphorically and literally) than Voges though.

My man Pete Forrest scored 64 too. Looks like he and Jaques were told to lift the tempo and that's when he got out...Legend though, 2 50's in his first 3 FC games. A solid start indeed.

The man has a gun technique. I've only seen him bat a couple of times and once was only in the nets, but he certainly has a very good base to work from.

Plenty of relevance. When you're 30 years of age and, as some misguided souls suggest!, on the verge of making the Australian team, your FC record is very relevant. It's not a matter of 'what he did four seasons ago', it's a matter of looking at his FC career in its totality and then making a judgement. This is his average over the past five years. Moreover, this is his FC career in Australia:
Last year: 53
2005/2006: 31
2004/2005: 24
2003/2004: 61
2002/2003: 22
Before this time, he couldn't even make it into FC cricket. If that record, and his inability to crack even a state side in the years before, is the record of Australian player, I'd be very disappointed. But for the name Hussey, would people even consider a 30 year old player with a record like that, as a future Australian player?

Looked pretty ordinary in the highlights on the news. Just a stock standard hanging around the crease for a bit too long. Probably just a fine, percentage of match fee.

His behaviour. Couldn't comment properly on the decisions, only saw them once from a long distance camera that they use in Pura Cup games. Supposedly was unlucky in the first innings.

Well done to Peter Siddle on a five wicket haul. Fair bit of fast bowling depth in Victoria at the moment. In a way, the injuries last year may have helped the future of our stocks, with McKay, Pattinson et al getting a run.
