There's no way they'll pick Broad, unless it's as a sub-fielder again.

And having a look at the way that the Adelaide pitch was playing during the second day, I don't think it's the worst move to have two spinners playing. McGain's dismissal of Cosgrove, on day 2, was with a ball that turned really big.

No ****. I can't believe you couldn't tell I was sarcastic from the previous posts..

Adcock could have been the second spinner.

LAMBERT!!!!

Two in two. Told you he'd come good. :p

(And if I'm not allowed to get excited when he takes two wickets in two balls, then all you haters aren't allowed to death-wish him when he gets a low score, either..).

the reasoning might be to start jaques in the middle order to give him experience then move him up to the opening slot. plus look at hussey's career, he was a FC opener and has ended up as a middle order test batsman, it's possible the selectors could bring in an opener but drop them down the order. it would be unlikely, and probably not the best option but it's possible.
0 chance of happening. If Jaques and Hussey are both in the team, Jaques will open. There is as much chance of Ryan Broad opening than Jaques batting in the middle order with Hussey opening - seriously (and Jack, this is all NUFAN was suggesting, not that Broad actually had a hope in hell).

Yes it's also possible that the selectors will pick Ryan Broad for the Australian team at the GABBA cause he has performed well there this season. It's probably not the best option, but it is possible..

Back to Hussey - some people fear moving him up to opening he won't be as good, although people should expect his average go down and not expect the runs to continue at the same rate wherever he bats. It just doesn't make much sense moving 2 players out of positions they feel comfortable in.
i never disagreed with that

Hey Clapo what record did Wade brake from Ponting?

Phil Jaques will open I'm fairly certain...

Actually I think the test team barring injuries has 10 names penciled in.
Jaques, Hayden, Ponting, Hussey, Clarke, Symonds, Gilchrist, Lee, Johnson, Clark and _____ .
I'm sure i read in the latest "Inside Cricket" magazine that he broke an U-19 run scoring record held by Ponting. I'd confirm it, but i can't find the magazine atm :@

Surely Dave Hussey is close to making the Australian First test team. He has been in sensational form for a while now.

Congrats Dougie Bollinger for a hat-trick!

Nearly had 4 in 4 balls too, but Thornley put the catch down at slips. He's certainly got very attrative figures in this match.

Freaking three drops off Heal's bowling today, although one was by himself. Impressive team effort by New South Wales.

I respectfully disagree.

In 2004-2005, he averaged 24 in the Pura Cup.

In 2005-2006, he averaged 31 in the Pura Cup.

In those two seasons he was dropped from the Victorian team.

Any 30 year old who has that on their CV, does not, in my humble view, belong anywhere near the Test team.

Caught his last 15 months or so?

Dominated County Cricket, Aussie Domestic cricket and recently starred in the Aus A vs Pakistan series.

An Fc average of in excess of 55 is pretty farking good.

Probably about as relevant as your views on his brother at the time.

How does what he did four seasons ago affect whether or not he should be picked for Australia?

I don't think he should be picked at this stage, because there isn't really a vacancy.

If i was a half decent batsmen or pace bowler watching from another state the sa-vic game i would get on a plane and move to adelaide in a hurry because they would be in with a half chance of playing the next game.
Same sa line up as last year, utterly useless.
