Cricketer Of The Year
hauritz bolwed and batted well....we miss haddin and need him back...i agree iwth tharmi esp when there are so many good young all rounders getting around in grade. nsw need to start blooding these players instead we hold onto the same players for 90 years........look at a certain keeper that is a new south welshman that couldnt get a run in nsw so went to wa and is the aussie keeper and an absolute freak...

Ronchi seems to have played another superb innings, he is really a talent to watch out for also good to hear Hauritz doing well i think he has got potential and i hope he has great season.
Much more mature innings from Ronchi. Looked streaky early on, but blitzed it after that. Made it look easy. Glad we've got guys like him and Paine in reserve. Ronchi is firmly 3rd choice behind Gilly and Haddin now though.

And in regards to Hauritz. He bowled and batted well. Hogg will be calling it a day soon and I reckon Hauritz should take his spot. Very, very good one day spinner. Deserves some games in the green and gold when Hogg goes. And as we saw tonight, he'll strengthen that lower order.

Lambert is good IMO. Especially at FC level, I think he could be a very useful player over the next couple of seasons.

Of course, he's never going to push for international selection or anything, but purely on his merits within the state side he's a better option than anyone else they could replace him with right now.

I dunno. Just seems to me the kinda guy who'll always be a brilliant grade player but never be able to just make that step up...He's never been convincing to me. And to be frank, the job of all domestic teams in Australia is to produce Australian players, so as NSW fan I'd sacrifice a few wins to see O'Keefe gain some experience at a higher level.

And what better way to find test out the opposition players than to trot out the best team possible for each match against them? Lambert averaged nearly 40 with the bat last season in FC cricket and he took 25 wickets at about 25 the season before. Whether or not he has a chance to get into the Australian team, he's the best option for NSW at least in first class cricket. He's only played five or six List A games in his whole career so it's a bit harsh to judge him too much on them.

As a NSW fan, I'd like to see us do our best with selection to win every game we play.

It should be noted that Jon Moss is back playing in Sydney. Looking at both players grade records, Moss has better record with both bat and bowl in grade cricket. He showed for Victoria that he can play as specialist batsmen.

Even using some selective stats for Lambert i.e he averages 40 odd with a bucket load of not outs. How many meaninful innings did he play? What about his bowling has he really got the ability to take top order wickets, all his done at FC level is take odd 2-3 wicket load mainly against lower order batsmen.

Really if you want to put out the best side each week and forget out trying to bring through the youngsters that have won 5 U19 Championships in row, then Jon Moss is far greater option then Lambert.

To say their is no better options is a bit short sighted. There are a lot of all rounders who could play the same role as Lambert and their is one who could play a far greater role, Moss and another who could play the exact same role, but has the potential to win you games, Mosies.

Really Lambert does nothing to help our goal in winnings games, even at his best, he just kept us in games. His a player that you can carry when you have a gun batting or bowling attack around him.He does give you good balance when you have that type of side around him. But when you need your secondary players to win you games, like we are going to this season, his not the best option.

We already got the most out of him and it is time to look at other options.

I don't think we should read too much into the game, really we lost by 1 run.
I mean qld were smashed in the o0ne dayer but look how they come back in the 4 dayer.
On lambert good no 7 for 4 day games,40 last year better than most state 7's his bowling more than useful,i am more worried who will will replace macgill in the 4 day side, has to be casson, last year doesn't mean he isn't a class spinner.
For the next one dayer henriques for lambert.
On damien smith he will come good 2nd xl performer, sure forrest will learn.
Comps will be close this year, and i think NSW have a strong squad,we will win games and be up their.
South australia is the only state that looks like it will be in for another horror year.

You're probably right. Had it not been for Rogers' freakish save on the boundary we probably would've won.

Freakin' boring day at the cricket today. Started dosing off in the last session. The only thing that saved the day was the entertainment in the box next to me with some lady getting really drunk and giving us some entertainment.

However, Qld are in a good position and should get 6 points from this game. They have a 200 lead and 4 wickets in hand, hopefully some quick runs tomorrow with Noffke and Simpson at the crease and an innings victory will occur.

Long season ahead one feels...

NSW 4/37 (20.1 overs)
Katich, SM 11
Lambert, GM 2

Will be 6 down in 1,2,3 when Lambert and Smith get themselves out.

Noffke dominating for Queensland, unbeaten century and seven wickets so far.

Noffke doing his chances no harm with 7 wickets so far and an unbeaten 100.

Bit disapointed Hauritz isn't playing the Pura Cup game. Not a good time for Jaques to fail.

NUFAN

Y no Afghanistan flag
Chances for what?
Making some Australia overseas Test Squads IMO..

He's 6th in the pecking order behind - Lee, Clark, Johnson, Tait, Hilfenhaus.

He's also a chance for the ODIs if they use the rotation policy once again.

If he keeps scoring unbeaten hundreds, he'll be in line for more than just the fast bowler's spot, too, one feels. If Symonds fails and Watson is still injured, Noffke at 7 could be a very realistic option.
