Andrew Symonds is at fault himself

Why? If the board is unwilling to do anything about it, even though they can, then it should be punished. I certainly wouldn't want to play at a venue like that as a player. I wouldn't mind one bit if teams boycotted stadiums like Vadodara, Adelaide, etc.

Then you'll probably end up banning every sports stadium in the world eventually........there will always be a racist minority everywhere.

That sucks for the board. I'd rather play in front of empty stadiums.
Your kidding? Would never work, and will never work, for instance they spend millions on stopping drugs, how is that going? Would never work8-)

Cause I don't care about people shouting chants outside the stadiums or in their homes. You are talking about a very small area to police. It's like asking the cops to keep one house free of drugs instead of the whole country.

Agreed. Deal with the individuals and make Boards have harsh penalities for those involved.

No point taking cricket away from the majority but in the same way no point attributing blame to the player that is targeted either.

Spot on, we have to live in the real world sometimes

This thread is bloody dumb.

I hate Andre Nel, and he is the biggest hothead on the cricket pitch...he provokes our players and I really don't like him...But the way our crowds racially abused him was absolutely terrible, and I would never dream of making excuses for it. There are no excuses for racism. Ever.

Dumb thread, and the people agreeing with the original poster are idiots.

That's a cop out. We're not talking about eliminating racism from society, we're talking about a very small area (stadiums).
The MCG holds 100,000 people, one person yells out a racial slur and close the stadium from cricket for 5 years? How the hell are they going to stop one person??? Not having this argument almost as silly as ..... no I won't say it:laugh:

Goughy, as a professional sportsman you know occasionally you will be confronted with unruly crowd elements.
GIven that and given we live in age where what you say quickly becomes universally known, why on earth would you want to create controversies for yourself knowing fully well you could cop it from said elements ? I mean they could give to you for for no apparent reason - nothing u can do in that case but why give them any added incentive ??

Who agreed with it? Still allowed to have his opinion if you don't agree with it, argue your case, no need to insult other posters:)

By beating his ass as soon as it happens. People around him will get the idea pretty quickly.

In a lot of these cases, the individuals who yell out racial abuse are not that easy to identify.
Its easier said than done Manan.....authorities have been trying to combat racism in sport for many years but it still exists, just like drugs in sport

Yes it is. In baseball, if you're sitting behind a player, there are ALWAYS two security guards there. They usually watch for people coming onto the fields, but any abuse can be quickly identified.

Any how many people attend these baseball matches ?

First of all, Symonds is an annoying person and he needs to shut his mouth. I can't stand him anymore.

With that said, I don't care what he said, or who he provoked, the comments were completely over the top and unjustified. Completely not excusable and you certainly can't give those baboons in the crowd a pass by blaming Symonds.

I don't care what he did - it is never justified to resort to racist calls.
While I broadly agree with lots of what you said, the irony of the highlighted sections is simply magnificent! ;)
